MrTBone (9), Hawthorne, New Jersey, USA does not count Jul 2, 2008 The 2008 version is excellent! Had fresh at the brewery. One word- delcious! I’m not a big Belgian White beer fan but this is a great one. Great golden-orange color. Nose is tempting with hints of banana. Palate is smooth, almost creamy. Can’t wait for more. Zeswaft (1000), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 20, 2007 The clowns at mad mex called this a breakfast ale. I was expecting some type of stout a la Founders. this was quite the opposite. light copper. light bodied and weak tasting. i was thinking it was a bad pale ale, british perhaps. belgian pale...does that have any significance? maybe a little spicy but mostly water and a burned plastic flavor. The_Epeeist (892), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 31, 2007 On tap at Mad Mex in West Philly; called Jersey Breakfast Ale. Hazy orange brown with a slight white head. Light yeast and lemon. Zingy but subdued carb, medium light. Taste is pear, touch of banana and Belgian yeast. Some malt with lemon peel drying. A little chalky but tasty and refreshing. willblake (1919), Long Branch, New Jersey, USA Jul 30, 2007 20070730 Growler thanks to hophead75. Well, I wasn’t going to take notes on this stuff but since I just drank a half gallon of it, it seems only right to log my thoughts. Still happily carbonated after a few weeks in the fridge, this stuff is golden amber with a fine beige head. Aroma is mildly fruity with obvious Belgian yeast esters and some graininess. Body is thin but pillowy, still nicely carbonated, lingers with some sweet fruits and coating vegetal hint. Flavors overall are simple and sessionable and really hit the spot tonight. Generally mild and probably a notch better fresh off tap at the brewery.
Thanks, Andrew, for sharing this Cricket Hill brew that was definitely worth trying. sheatripper (789), Brooklyn, New York, USA Jul 17, 2007 Cask at Brazen Head. Hazy dark amber with a frothy off-white head and a few floaties. Aroma primarily of banana, with bready malts and some floral notes. Big and sweet banana-fruitgum-bubblegum flavor with a bit of a lemony tartness cutting through. Seemed to get progressively sweeter after a while. Definitely Belgian in character, though not terribly exciting.
