xtra Stout Bodied. Naturally fermented using a premium blend of fresh pressed apple juice, not from concentrate, and fermented with Irish stout ale yeast, Lansdowne is a rich brown color, it shows a slight hint of butterscotch, balanced by a subtle fruitiness and a slightly dry crisp finish with a uniquely full and buttery mouth feel. Lansdowne never strays off-sides and is uncorrupted by added malt, spirit or grape alcohols, and is free of colorants, sorbate and benzoate preservatives.

"this is the one that got my attention on the shelf - being brewed with stout yeast - so we ended up doing a 3 cider tasting. all were nice, this was the most unique, possibly the least drinkable. depends on your mood i guess. in the mood for cider, this ainít your huckleberry. want a liquified molasses cookie? well here you go! apple elements greatly overshadowed by molasses and a nice dry yeasty spice (subtle). poured a dark amber/brown with a fuller feel thean either the honey crsip or saint. overkill on the molasses, but glad to have tried it."

double deuce - pours like no cider Iíve ever seen. Nose is cider meets whisky. Sweet and boozy. Butterscotch for sure. Interesting to say the least and warming.

Iím not sure how much exactly I paid for this, but Iím quite sure it didnít exceed $6. It was only a 650mL bottle, after all. I picked this up at New England Wine & Spirits earlier today. This looks like shit water... Iím not kidding. Hazy light brown with sediments clinging to the bottom. A few bubbles shown, but nothing beyond that. Nosed molasses, applesauce, and pecans, and a little faint honey. Tasted literally of molasses and applesauce. That sounds good in theory, but the molasses totally dominated the apple notes, making it taste less like a cider and more like some Bruery experiment. Kind of an oversweet mess.

22oz bomber poured into a shaker. Pours a clear dark amber with almost no head. Aroma of apples, caramel and brown sugar. Taste is heavily sweet. Apples with molasses and brown sugar. Full bodied with a thick sticky texture. Soft carbonation and a very long finish. Overall, very good. Pretty sure I could drink this everyday.

Bomber to half-pint glass (shared with the Mrs.). Looks solid; a fairly transparent amber with off-white lacing that dissipates pretty quickly. Smells and tastes of off-flavored cider with an unbalanced molasses presence and off yeast notes. Average (at best) on the palate. Not good.

Can to shaker. Sweet aroma. Darker golden yellow. Interesting bitter flavor playing with the sweetness.

Had this one the same night I had The Saint variety of Crispin. Pours a dark brown, no head. Aromas of apples and molasses with some yeast notes and almost a roasty character too. Flavor is apple with the molasses and yeast playing well off of each other. Iím a bit surprised by the reviews this one has gotten, I thought this was really interesting and pretty good too. Itís drier than The Saint but not super dry. Interesting concept, good cider.

22oz bottle, shared by Nate. Hazy amber brown color. No head or lace. Interesting nose - molasses, baked apple, big on the butterscotch. Flavor is a surprise - Smoke? Smoke... Kind of confusing for me, with the apple. Definite molasses (which I may be finding kind of smokey). Medium to big body. Lighter, soft carbonation. Very dry finish. Maybe even some kind of chalkiness in the finish - Joe said that where was "something lingering in the aftertaste" that he wasnít a fan of. Definitely something. Finish doesnít bother me too much, but itís definitely strange. That irish stout yeast is much different than it was in the Bird on the Wire I tried before this. Chewy, but much less pleasant and creamy. Possibly responsible for that chalkiness. It must have been the trappist yeast doing the legwork in the other cider. Sweet, light tart, light bitter taste. Kind of messy, not as tasty as the Bird on the Wire... But still, very interesting. I appreciate these kinds of creative efforts, especially in a style that is usually pretty straight forward
