COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
xtra Stout Bodied. Naturally fermented using a premium blend of fresh pressed apple juice, not from concentrate, and fermented with Irish stout ale yeast, Lansdowne is a rich brown color, it shows a slight hint of butterscotch, balanced by a subtle fruitiness and a slightly dry crisp finish with a uniquely full and buttery mouth feel. Lansdowne never strays off-sides and is uncorrupted by added malt, spirit or grape alcohols, and is free of colorants, sorbate and benzoate preservatives.

Sampled from a bottle. Cloudy, brown appearance. Light apple aroma with yeast. Flavor has dry apple, a dry cider. I like it.

Bottle shared with my lovely wife. Pours a rather darkly tinged brown with a bit of a white head while it pours. Warm yeast and dark wood, soft spiced apples, touches of banana. Warm toffee and caramel and umami notes as this warms. Medium bodied, nice velvety mouthfeel with light carbonation. Picks up some smokiness as it warms up. This is interesting and I really like the idea of using different yeast strains to do a cider and see if you can detect and isolate properties and qualities typically associated with the beer style. I almost get some soft little roast hints with some dry bitterness. Soft and sweet overtones on the finish, more warm banana yeast and stewed apples. Very interesting.

A dirty hazed BROWN cider with a thin off white head. In aroma, a nice mix of apples and molasses, musty. In mouth, a strange mix of tart apples and black strap molasses, the last reminding me of molasses on buckwheat pancakes. Strange experience. Bottle at City Beer Hall, April 28, 2012.

Pours turbid rusty brown with minimal head. Nose is earthy brown sugary apple, some grapey notes. Tastes somewhat odd; the molasses seem a bit cloying and don’t really complement the apple and grapey flavors, and the Irish stout yeast definitely adds a malty type of flavor. Still, this is a flavor profile I’ve never come across before.

Bottle. Pours murky amber brown with a thin head. Apple and molasses in the aroma, with a little bit of brown sugar. The flavor has cooked apples and brown sugar, almost like apple crisp, with a bunch of molasses and honey, and just a hint of booze. Strange, but really not that bad.

bought at Specs after hangin with scoobs and lauren at boondoggles for the blue moon trial tastings (bacon porter!!) .. . was very intrigued by this .. pours a murky brown .. low foam .. . ghetto blaster! .. . wow, has such a punch of roast sharpness in the nose .. . light apple but mostly an abrasive roast, really like strongbow and guinness mixed.. . . i high hopes for this, and i love the creativity, but not quite rugby .. . . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZsLv4S66cE

Tap pours cloudy orange with very little head. Aroma is all apple with a sugary sweetness and lively carbonation. The taste is rich and full like a real cider should be but it had a couple twists with the yeast contending for flavor. It ends a bit muddied with a variety of sweet sugary apple and floral flavors but is filling with a soft warmth. Ok but not my favorite from Crispin.

This isn’t for me. A nice cider, no doubt, but just not my style. Oh well, I do enjoy their honey crisp.

From a bottle poured a dark amber/brown color with no head. Malty slightly sweet flavor with a quick finish.
