Bottle from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours hazy gold with a few bubbles. Aroma is fairly bourbon. Maybe also rye. Definitely also apple. Flavor is rather cider sweet - I think it’s more rye than bourbon/van - Mildly woody. Think the honey comes through on the lips. Interesting stuff. Not getting banana ester, so don’t know where the trappist yeast went.

Bottle. Poured cloudy dark copper color with a minimal fizzy head that diminished slowly with little lacing. Medium sweet apple, honey and wood aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet apple flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration. Solid complex drinkable beverage.

Bottle (with some disturbingly chunky sediment). Pours with a must gold hued body with chunks (label suggested swirling). No real head. Aromas of barrel, spicy, musty, oak, rye, flint, apple sauce and lots of minerals. Slightly boozy, medium fruity. Flavors show lots of toasty oak notes: lactone and vanillin. Some isoamyl acetate, which seems a bit common for Crispin. Lots of rye/bourbon notes, apple sauce and cola. Off dry, medium bodied, low tannin but woody finish.

Bottled. Poured cloudy straw golden with not much sticking around for head. The aroma picked up sweet bourbon and honey initially, with crisp, meaty apples and a kiss of spicy rye behind.. a little heavy-handed on the sugarage, but still aiight. The flavor found sweet honey and green apple meat at the core, with oak, spicy whiskey, and a bit of green apple skin around.. finished with more sweet honey and whiskey than anything else. Medium-bodied with low carbonation on the palate.. in the end it was just too sweet for me, and there were too many competing elements.

12-oz. Pours a cloudy pale amber with no head or lace. Big sweet peach, vanilla, apples, and honey on the nose. Sweet but not sharp or dense...it’s approachable. Creamy medium body...soft carb. Apples, peaches, vanilla, and silky sweet dense honey on the mid palate. Shockingly good for what is essentially an extract cider.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 crossovert (4595) - Wisconsin, USA - MAR 27, 2013
Booze, bourbon, oak, apples, it is just too sweet for its own damn good, slightly tangy. Also the appearance of this in unappealing.
