3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 drowland (3896) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAR 5, 2012
3/5/12. 12oz bottle. Clear light yellow pour with no head. Huge jolly rancher apple aroma with touches of yeast and honey. Sweet apple flavor, a bit of cider and honey, with more lingering apple. Brut? My ass.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 wlajwl (1797) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - FEB 22, 2012
Aroma is very tart apples. The flavor is apple skin, apple juice and a mild sweetness, along with a dry finish. Kind of basic for Crispin but it was pretty decent.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Nuffield (3087) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - DEC 31, 2011
Well...finally. A Crispin cider that is worth drinking (though I like their sake yeast one, too). The aroma is big with green apple, almost too big to be believed as all natural...so Jolly Rancher. The carbonation fades surprisingly fast, but the flavor sticks it out, giving it a dry but with a hint of sour (still, tempered acidity). Big flavor and fruity chewing gum flavor. Very drinkable. (bottle)
3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 13/20 Aquilo (464) - Berkeley, California, USA - DEC 17, 2011
Clear golden yellow with a head that foams up quickly, and goes away too fast. It has an exciting crisp apple aroma, with a candy sweetness to back it up. I actually like the aroma very much. Unfortunately, the flavor is way too sweet. The label clearly says "extra dry," but this is not dry at all. It’s like soda. I can only imagine that the folks at Crispin have no idea what dry means. Still, it’s not bad. I actually like sweet drinks. Unfortunately, my bottle is nearly flat. No carbonation to tickle the tongue and balance out the sweetness. Overall, this seemed like a promising cider. It just didn’t work out. Why is it so hard to find a decent cider here in California?
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 MicroGrog (110) - New York, USA - DEC 4, 2011
Bottle from New Beer Distributors.
Pale gold/straw color. A bit on the lively side.
Smells of a blend of green apple & grape Jolly Ranchers, cut with boxed apple juice. Slightly musty.
Mellow eating apples, melon, gum, plastic, big sulfites, & something "naturally flavored" that’s not too far from cream soda. Mild acidity & tartness. Not really all that dry.
Moderate, crispy carbonation. Dusty/powdery texture on the finish. Actually preferable over ice. It helps cut the ugly.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 bbbeer (232) - Massachusetts, USA - NOV 6, 2011
Pale yellow with bubbles. Aroma of moderate appleness. Medium-light body, well carbonated. Flavor is just a bit off dry, apples, refreshing, becomes more mediocre as it warms, decent not exciting.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 FROTHINGSLOSH (3388) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 2, 2011
Sampled from a 12 oz clear bottle this cider poured a very pale yellow-clear color with a medium white seltzer head hat faded very quickly. The aroma was dryish and musty with notes of grape, faint apple and champagne. The flavor was dry and bitter with tart apples and a yeasty undertone. Medium finish and very light body. Overall more like champagne than cider.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Beerman6686 (2548) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 24, 2011
This poured a semi couldy light straw yellow with a tiny white head. Aroma was apple juice, and dry champagne and yeast. Flavor was much the same, fairly dry for a widely distributed cider, but not much complexity or unique flavors.
3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20 SanfordBrewer (1261) - Sanford, Florida, USA - OCT 8, 2011
translucent straw with no head and light effervescence; clingy medium body with medium-high carbonation.
aroma: bright tart fresh apples with a hint of acetic sourness.
taste: fresh apples and champagne up front, with musty apples and a bit of yeast character in the center, and a semisweet finish.
