4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 csbosox (1191) - Prairie Village, USA - JAN 27, 2011
12oz bottle. Really nice aroma, tart apples (lots of apple aroma), a bit of home made caramel, some wood, distant whiskey high notes. It is not the aroma I expected, but it is delightful. The taste is strong apple predominately (the apple wines seemingly contribute a lot) , oak, spice, faint bourbon notes. The taste is captivating and multi-layered. Hazy, red tinted gold color. Crisp finish, but not overly tart, alcoholic, sweet, or bourbony. As with their spiced cider, there is a nice body to the cider. This is a masterful blend. I would choose this over any cider I have had, save for the world class Qubec ice ciders.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 j12601 (4435) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - OCT 3, 2011
Bottle. Pours a very hazy amber gold with the faintest hint of a white head that just lingers at the edges. Spicy up front, a bit of wood, whiskey, odd. Has that decomposing apple aroma, wood, toast. Medium bodied, softly decomposing apples, old wood, boozy alcohol that turns into vanilla. Finishes with a bit more whiskey over apples, but soft and not boozy or harsh. Sweet old apples on the finish. Certainly interesting. Long repeating flavor of whiskey applesauce.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Drake (5232) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - AUG 10, 2011

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 vyvvy (2920) - Florissant, Missouri, USA - JUN 19, 2011
Sampled at St. Louis Microfest 2011 - pours golden / yellow with a small white head. The aroma has vanilla, cider, mild sweetness along with a hint of bourbon and red apples. Medium / light body with soft carbonation. The flavor starts with smooth red apples and is fairly dry. The is more smoothness that general with ciders and it has a hint of vanilla. The finish is quite mild and show the bourbon a touch more, but is still more of a compliment than up-front flavor. It finishes lush and fairly dry. Nice cider.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 boFNjackson (2934) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAY 28, 2011
Bottle (thanks to dionysus for this as a trade bonus)... Poured hazy, amber/orange with no head. Very big forward sweetness, slightly cloying. Some pear notes, whiskey flavors, apple sauce, drying yeast, citrus, with some buttery tones in the finish. Caramel, candied apple-toasted sweetness in there too.

Sample poured from a bottle at St. Louis Microfest 2011. Pours a cloudy yellow-gold color with a finger-thick bone white head. Aroma of red apples, vanilla, sweet and pale malts, oak, cream, and a bit of banana and bubblegum. Flavor of apples, vanilla, citrus, sweet malts, mild spices, whiskey, oak, grapes, and syrup. Medium-bodied, with a juicy, sticky mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Dry finish. Really interesting cider, and probably the best I’ve had from Crispin.

12 oz. bottle on 4/24/11. deep cloudy unfiltered orange / yellow pour with no head. the whiskey does not come across the nose as I had hoped. however the nose is filled with delightful layers of sweet apple, light vanilla, pie crust, leather and lingering oak. big round body with lots of apple juice, orange zest, and some spice up front. solid carbonation. somewhat tart from the front to back. there are faint notes of whiskey peaking through the body, however the fruit dominates the taste. some light molasses, pear notes and alcohol come across as well. The Jacket finishes sweet, dry and tart with a lingering apple brandy flavor.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Dixonian (1200) - Dallas, Texas, USA - APR 18, 2011
12oz bottle.
Split this one with my wife. Cloudy dull orange color - slight whiskey, spicy yeast, crisp apple, and oak aromas. A bit of heat from the alcohol with more oak and whiskey in the flavor. Very good but not worth the price.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 TheBeerOrg (2022) - Crestwood, Kentucky, USA - APR 14, 2011

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 bhensonb (7583) - Woodland, California, USA - APR 5, 2011
A much appreciated bottle from ericandersnavy! Pours hazy orange gold with a few transient bubbles. An oaky/smoky aroma. Med body with coarse carbonation. Flavor is apple with a touch of treacle and some smoke and seemingly bourbon. Some sort of whisky anyway. And at 8% there isn’t really any heat. So here’s a cider that can proudly stand beside beer. Good drink.
