16/05/2012 Open Baladin Roma (tap). Bruna, profonda, impenetrabile, bellissima, con riflessi color mogano, magnifico cappello di schiuma bianca, molto persistente. Al naso note di miele di castagno, frutta secca e lieviti, non molto intenso ma ben equilibrato. In bocca è dolce, malto, caramello, miele, abbastanza ben equilibrata. Corpo medio, carbonazione soft. Discreta, ma niente di eccezionale.

Bottle in Rome from Domus Birrae. Clear brown beer - dark. Short lived off white head. Light crispy palate, dry. Smooth malt with a trace of molasses. Trace of cherry! Dry finish. An okay sweet malty beer.

In short: A big creamy nutty brown ale. Nourrishing. Above average for the style

The look: Dark brown body topped by a long-lasting small beige head
In long: The strong nose is very nutty, toasted with also some fresh brownies and some forest floor. Taste has some of the above (chewy oily walnuts, toasted whole wheat bread, brownies) and also adds ripe bananas. Big body with a creamy and fluffy mouthfeel. This big yeasty nutty beer could almost pass as an Abey Dubbel. Above average for a Brown Ale. Nothing exceptional but I liked it. One of the many beers I had during the 5 day Bondial beer festival that immediately followed the Ratebeer Summer Gathering. That was LOTS of beer to drink again, but festivals or not I like take a 1h break from drinking beer once a week to have a shower, whether I need it or not.

Verre de dégustation, provenant d’une bouteille de 330 ml, au Mondial de la Bière 2011 (Montréal, QC). Arôme: Odeur de caramel fruité avec une pointe chocolatée. Apparence: La couleur est brune foncée. Présence d’un mince col beige mousseux et d’une fine dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de caramel avec une pointe fruitée et chocolatée. Durée moyenne de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture légèrement astringente. Faible effervescence en bouche. Présence de caramel en arrière goût. (Rating #3748)

Bevuta a "Birre al Parco 2011"; un assaggio durante il laboratorio con K, ho abbandonato il bicchiere: un buldrone alcolico.

Molto pepato l’alcol, note metalliche, corpo leggero, ai limiti del watery; non entusiasmante.

A hazy murky brown ale with small floaties and a thin moka head. In aroma, a sweet molassey malt, plums, like a doppelbock. In mouth, a very sweet molassey banana malt,a bit cloying and heavy. Bottle at Mondial 2011, June 10 2011.

A cloudy, muddy looking brown pour. Thin off-white head with no lacing. Aroma is just malt. Taste is malty, hoppy, sweet and a sour bitterness. Chocolate on the back end. Sweet biting carbonic mouth feel. Chalky in the after taste. Decent but not much maltiness, just a cloying sweetness.

Bottiglia. Un bel colore ambrato carico tendente al marrone con schiuma fine e compatta. Profumo di vaniglia, carruba, cioccolato e tostatato. Molto ben bilanciata.

UPDATED: MAR 19, 2012 Bevuta sia in bottiglia che alla spina. Birra dal color tonaca di frate con schiuma fine color cappuccino, al naso note tostate seguite da caffè, cacao e una legera liquirzia. In bocca ben bilanciata con note di malto tostato e caffè e cacao con un bel finale secco.
