Cask at Craft Beer Co - Islington on 17th November 2012. Deep ruby with creamy coloured head and lacing especially at first. Rich fruity roasty aroma with coffee. Intense coffee flavours and roastiness in-mouth. Rich coffee and fruitiness meet in a pleasant finish, on a slightly grainy texture and medium body. Lovely beer.

Bottle at home split with Sarah. Picked up from Brewdog online. Opaque black coloured pour with a medium loose tan head. Aroma is spicy veg coffee bean and slightly ashy roast and nutty praline. Flavour is dry roasted barley with nice fresh raw coffee bean, little bit of spicy. Palate is medium light and chalky on the tongue. Bit of dark choc lingers with some. Well brewed with no noticeable flaws, could do with some more body perhaps.

1/3 pint, from keg at Friends of Ham in Leeds. Shiny black surface to a pitch black body. Dotted spots to the glass. Roasted malty smell with hints of coffee and dark chocolate. Flavoured with coffee grounds and dark fruits. Dry ending. Okay, rather unvaried though (07.07.2014).

Bottle from Tomlinson’s Beer Shop, Inverness. Almost black in colour with a thin beige head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt and chocolate. Semi-sweet, with a lasting bitter chocolate/coffee finish. For a stout, quite a light body, and rather thin in texture, with soft carbonation.
