Tab at Ølbaren. The almost perfect stout! Perfection is for The Gods bit this is close. Thick creamy head, creamy but not sweet mouthfeel, divine roastiness and other black flavors. And hops to balance it all. I need not much else.

(Draught@Pikkulintu, rated 2011-09-22) Almost black with a small, beige head. Roasted maltiness in the nose, with hints of salty licorice and chocolate, plus a touch of oatmeal sourness. Quite burned-malty flavor, but with malt sweetness and salty licorice balancing. Medium to full body, soft CO2. Not perfect in anyway, nor very complex - but one of the better ones from this brewery.

Draught @ Gallow’s Bird, Espoo

Pours pitch black with a creamy light brown head. Light aroma of slightly roasty malts, milk chocolate and toffee. Taste is dry and roasty with a slick mouthfeel and notes of coffee and chocolate. Heavily dry, slightly bitter and roasty finish. Quite well balanced dry stout.

(Draught at Pikkulintu, 20110921) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and light brown. Aroma had burnt malts, coffee and ash. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, ash, liquorice, hint of fruitiness and medium bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt, ashy and bitter. Too burnt for my taste but nicely balanced flavours.

From the tap. Poured black, little head, the usual stout story. Maybe it was just my own sensitivities, but this was practically like drinking a coffee with some alcohol in it. Obviously there was more to it than that - roasted malts and chocolate were definitely present - but it was pleasantly coffee dominant. Bitterness to ride it out.
