(Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival, 2 Oct 2010) Black colour with hints of ruby when seen through light. Firm creamy beige head. Roasted, malty nose with coffee, dark chocolate and hints of pine needles. Roasted, malty taste with notes of coffee, chocolate, cocoa and hints of pine needles in a dry, fairly bitter finish. More than medium body, dry. Very tasty and in excellent balance. Lovely beer.

Black with rich rocky tan-coloured head. Big hop aroma of pine, resin, flowers and red grapefruit with notes of mocha and licorice. Medium-bodied with rich notes of pine, licorice and dark coffee with undertones of resin. Long dryish bittersweet finish of roasted malts, sweet coffee, licorice, pine, resin and flowers. More, please!

Bottled. Dark brown colour with frothy pale brown head. Wonderful nose with notes of roasted malts and tropical fruits, that is citrus and orange. Mouthfeel is smooth and medium, with a flavour profile of cinnamon roll, chocolate and orange. Bitterness is gently marked and lasts long. Best Black IPA this far!

Draught at SBWF (Brill). It poured a pitch black liquid with a light brown head. Creamy with a flavour of chocolate, hops and dark. Very nice and easy to drink.

Sample at SBWF 2010. Pitch black with a nice, big cappuchino head. Very heavy hops over a good back of chocolatey and coffeey dark malts. They really succeeded with the flavour blend of hops and dark malts in this beer. Very nice IBA!

Papsoe (25083) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - SEP 23, 2010
On tap. Pours black and opaque with a light brown head. Good citrusy hop aroma. Medium body, plenty of hard roasted malt and licorice with a fairly hoppy and burned malty bitter finish. 180910

Marko (4068) - Split / Zagreb, CROATIA - SEP 18, 2010
Draught at Lord Nelson, shared with and courtesy of Papsoe (thanks!). Tiny tan head, black body. Sweetish light tropical fruit aroma hop nose. Taste... more of the same, aroma hops, some random bitter grainy roast, dunno how to explain it. The two don’t mix properly and in the end, despite my best intentions to love it, it’s, at least for me, a bit of a letdown. Ah well.
