Why did Crooked River leave Cleveland? Man this stuff rocked so hard and then it was gone. My brand of choice. So many good beers. Now a brewery in Maryland is crafting it? Someone please explain.

Aroma: Lots of roasted and toasted malts--almost a smokey aroma. Very rich and inviting. Appearance: Black with a tan head that dissipates too quickly. Taste:Initial bitterness immediately balanced by a medium sweetness. As it finishes, the beer dances between the two, with the bitter winning out in the end. Really well developed and balanced, though. Palate: Medium-full body, slick texture, average carbonation, long finish. Overall: This is really well put together beer. Im not blown away by it, but Id stock it in my fridge without question.

Poured a very dark brown with a medium-sized tan head. Aroma is quite nice. There are lots of roasted notes with chocolate and coffee. Some vanilla/oatmeal as well. Taste is quite roasted at first with lots of chocolate and coffee. The finish is pretty hoppy and it blends nicely with the creamy smoothness. I like how the bitterness from the hops mixes with the bitterness from the roasted flavors. Aftertaste is a little acidic, but its still good. Overall very good.

Very smokey. This bottle says original cleveland brew, and it was physically created in maryland. Both of these places meet my approval. This beer is okay. The donkey on the label reminds me of donkey from shrek.

Dark coke coloured porter covered by a healthy off-white sheet. A dark malt medley with a soft, rooty, earthy roastiness that does not quite mask its herbal, tea-like connatations, neither does it hide its honeyed liquorice subtleties. A complex, yet mild offering. In mouth, it has one of those expandable mouthfeel, not feeling heavy, but filling up the mouth. Tasty while never being agressive and remaining timid on the citrusy hops. Soft whispers of caramel, dark chocolate and more honey complete the portrait. A satisfying, most drinkable porter, but certainly nowhere near the surprise that the ESB was.

Nice roasty aroma, with hints of chocolate and coffee. Pours a nearly opaque black, with hints of ruby when held up to light, with just a dusting of light tan head. Nice crisp flavor, with a bit of bitterness in the finish. A nice sessionable beer, and probably the best of the returning Crooked River beers.

Crooked River Robust Porter pours to a deep brown/black color with a creamy tan head, and a moderate amount of carbonation. The nose is just packed with robust aromas of dark malt, roast, espresso coffee, and some piney hop aromatics. The palate is firm with lots of big, robust dark malt flavors, flavors of coffee, dark chocolate, and big roasty flavors coat the tongue. This beer finishes with more of those good dark chocolate and coffee flavors up front, then ends with a dry, roasty, and slightly piney hop bitterness that lingers. This is an excellent example of robust porter, one that is well worth seeking out if you enjoy porters and stouts.

Pours an oily brown with a thin beige head. Weak coffee aroma. The first taste seemed diluted and really did not have the body I was expecting. It finished a bit heavier, but still nothing special. Enjoyment diminished by the end of the glass.

This beer poured a nice rich black with a thin tan head. The aroma has a rich coffee scent with a fainter chocolate presence. The taste is rather thin with even more chocolate coming through fron the roasted malt. This is a good porter but also a rather basic one with very little to let it stand out.
