Thick tasting and fruity, not my kind of beer, but it looks great! Not the usual íWinter / Autumní brews either, you can taste pumpkin, or maybe zuchinni in the beer without a title to remind you what is in it. Maybe some nutmeg also? I prefer Peteís Wicked Winter to this, but it was a wonderfull colored beer, looked grat in my mug. Maybe next fall I will drink some more. Much less hangover effects than Maumee Bays íBlitzení

Gold with a nice white head. Pumpkiny nose and body make this one enjoyable. Some more malt backbone would have been nice, but thereís a spicy pumpkin pie feel to this that makes it enjoyable.

Crooked River Pumpkin Harvest Ale pours to a beautiful, bright orange color with a nice white head, and a good bit of carbonation. The nose is wonderful on this beer. Spicy aromas of cinnamon and nutmeg marry with a backdrop of sweet malt. The palate is crisp with flavors of sweet malt and a good underpinning of meaty/squashy pumpkin flavor. This beer finishes with more malt and pumpkin flavors up front, then ends with a pleasing cinnamon and nutmeg spicy finish that slightly lingers.
This is a delicious beer, and is akin to drinking liquid pumpkin pie. There is a really nice balance of spice and pumpkin flavor, but more so on the spice side. While you can really taste the pumpkin in this beer, the liquid pumpkin pie effect makes this version of pumpkin ale, and ideal candidate for a desert beer. Of course this beer is a natural with a big slice of pumpkin pie and vanilla ice cream. It would also work well with pumpkin cheese cake, and pumpkin ice cream. This beer is great by itself, and it is the perfect brew to sip of a cool Fall afternoon watching a football game, or the beer to enjoy after an afternoon of yard work. Seek this beer out if it is in your market, and while supplies last.

(12 oz bottle, obtained in trade with jeffin7, thanks Jeff!) Very lightly spiced for a pumpkin beer. If I did a blind tasting with other pumpkin beers, Iíd insist someone snuck in a golden ale. Itís lightly flavored in general, but as such, the bready, somewhat sweet maltiness dominates because thereís not much else here. Yeah, thereís some subtle spiciness, nutmeg and ginger I think, but itís not the first thing you notice.Bready aroma dominates the nose, again with subtle spices offering a very mild complement. Light golden color and slightly hazy in appearance. Pours a very small head and by the time I walked from my kitchen to my computer, all that remained was a tiny rim around the edge of the glass. Lace is a 4-letter word to this beer. Overall, itís not a bad beer, just not what I expected. Iím hard pressed to call this a pumpkin beer, but rather a bready golden ale with some very light spiciness.

Hazy orange coloured body with an orange tint and a nice tan head. Aroma of pumpkin pie spice, nutmeg, metal, malt and brown sugar - REAL nice! Medium-bodied; Perfect amount of pumpkiny spice taste with a short sweetness and a malt that rolls off the palate. Aftertaste is fairly clean and short lived. Overall, a nice pumpkin beer that offers more than a lot of others-ROUNDED QUALITY! I sampled this twelve ounce beer purchased the same day at Dean & Deluca in Georgetown (Washinton, D.C.) on 13-December-2004.

Bottle: Looks exactly like it does in our picture - Golden orange, good, firm white head, slightly hazy. Lots of nutmeg in the aroma as well as pumpkin, butter, cinnamon, pie crust. Big sensation on the palate - lively carbonation tingles the tongue and the flavor is full of spices. Nutmeg really comes through, but cinnamon, sugar, and pumpkin pie tastes are not ignored. The description lists ginger, and that would explain how the spice nails my tongue. Initially this tastes just great, but towards the end of the bottle itís just too much. Itís almost too in your face to enjoy in any quantity. I think if crooked river just reduced the level of over the top spices a little - without taking any spices away or changing anything else about the beer - theyíd have a winner.

I think this bottle was really old, and it may not have even been made this year considering im the first person to rate it in a year. Kinda reminds me of post road pumpkin, in that it is very bland and watered down. Slight nutmeg and other pumpkin aroma and flavors. Small head with copper body. Overall just a regular beer with nothing outstanding. Kind of a let down from crooked river.

Wow the nutmeg really hits you when you open the bottle. Pours a slightly hazy yellow with a small fizzy head. I can smell the crust and the spices but no pumpkin. Has the tongue tingling sensation from the spices. Definitely a beer that depends on the season, when the leaves are falling not when the flowers are coming up. Will try again later this fall.
