COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Blackberry Petite Sour is an unfiltered wild ale with Blackberries aged in oak . A serious sourness greets you on the nose with dark bramble fruit aromas and bright citrus flavors created by the wild yeast and bacteria. The finish is dry with a firm tartness, and prickly mouthfeel.

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2012 750ml bottle # 475/720 (not 857). Pours reddish brown with lacy off white head, looks like framboise. Aroma -strong berry fruit immediately greets the nose, i get more lactic/acedic acid than brett notes, though both are present. Wild yeast cuts through some of the substantial berry sweetness, but aroma is still juicy sweet. Taste - starts sweet berry juice that goes light lactic sour kick in middle. Subtle bretty horse blanket throughout. Ends bready/grainy that grows stronger as beer warms. Palate - light effervescent mouth feel, tingly on tongue, just the right carb, could pair well with the creamiest cheese. Overall - Nice little fruit sour from CS. The taste, and especially the aroma, reminded me of framboise but Americanized, fresher and w/ blackberries. More lou pepe style than lindemanns, i guess. I enjoyed it fresh but im hoping that in a year or two the bugs will eat up some of the fermentables and residual sweetness from the berries.

Traces of tan head atop the dark body. Blackberries dominate the aroma and taste, imparting their delicate flavors which somehow turn more sour and intense as I keep drinking. Sourness and fruitiness intensify, turning into a magical creation.

750 ml bottle, batch March 2012, bottle 372 / 857. Pours hazy purplish amber with a fizzy off white head that quickly goes to a thin film and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is sweet berries and funky acidic (mild butyric) brett.

The flavor is lots of tart and sour berry with a little sweetness and some wood notes. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with low prickly carbonation.

Overall, a nice sour beer with lots of sour tart berry.

Bottle thanks to the coolest c@ in CO ! Pours a purple rose color with a finger of pinkish foam. The nose is unripe blackberry fruit, basement funk and a bit of tropical brett undertones. The palate follows with a nice balance between tart fruit and musty funk... some barrel notes of toasted vanilla and blackberry sweetness rounds out the mid palate with puckering sourness drying out the finish. Lots of basement funk lingers...

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle. Reddish pour with a tan head. the aroma is full of cheese and raspberry notes with a lot of funk. Reminds me a bit of Cantillon. The flavor is also fairly funky with some cheese and leather notes, as well as some raspberries. The beer is fairly sour and quite dry. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Very nice.

Bottle share thanks to GT2. Lots of harsh acetic acid in this, vinegar, lots of oak, buttery, cheesy, some blackberry, and funk. Difficult to drink. Not very good.

Bottle shared by GT. Hazy reddish-pink pour with a white head. Oof, what a nose...Blue cheese, puke, and Cheetos. A bit of blackberry, vinegar, and lemon. The flavor is a slight improvement, but it’s still really...funky. Blue cheese, lemon, Cheetos, and blackberry. Acetic sourness, oak, and grass. Not pleasing.

750mL thanks to unclerudy! Fizzing out foam atop a clear, deeper purple pour. Nose is bleu cheese, massive funk, mild vinegar, blackberry. Taste is hotter acetic acid than expected for Crooked Stave, woody and dusty barrel. Finish is acetic with extreme salt and lime combo. Mouth puckering acetic. The tasting group all got a lot of butyric acid/bile/stomach acid harshness out of this that I did not, but four others did.
