3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 arrogantb (1398) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JAN 12, 2013
On tap at Crooked Stave, this was described to me as similar to a flemish red and I could sort of see the similarities. Reddish brown color, so-so head. Aroma is wood, specifically sticks and branches (yes, I smell them often), hints of sourness to come. Flavor was smooth with a bit of sour accents and I swear a mild brown sugar flavor, quite smooth and very easy to drink.

Tap @ Crooked Stave. The pour’s a hazy medium brown color with a small off-white head. The nose is mild balsamic vinegar, red fruits, rust, ketchup and general umami flavors. The taste is much the same - funky, salty umami and red fruits dominate. Earthy, rustic flavors. A hint of fruit juice and orange on the finish. Medium body, smooth. Overall, pretty decent.

On tap at Crooked Stave poured a cloudy brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of tobacco, sour citrus, earthiness, light poegranate, light horseblanket and light oak. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry lightly tart finish. Flavors of tobacco, toffee, light pomegranate, light citrus and light oak with a crisp dry lightly tart lingering fruity tobacco finish.

Tap @ Crooked Stave. Pours a hazy, purplish brown appearance with a very small head. Grape, pomegranate, mild vinegar, tangy aroma. Somewhat tart, grape, tannic, light vanilla, a touch funky, vinegar flavor. Kind of interesting but not my favorite from them.

UPDATED: NOV 18, 2012 On Tap at the barrel room. Pour is murky brown with a small white head. Funk, fruit, dark berries, light phenols, tannin, and dark grapes in the aroma. Taste is citric acid, oak, grapes, raspberries, cranberry juice, a touch if vinegar, and light spice with a medium sour finish. Medium body with low carbonation and a long lasting aftertaste. Definitely one of the better blends I have at the barrel cellar.
