375 ml bottle poured a clear reddish purple with a lingering ring of lavender foam. Aromas of straw, barnyard, blackberry and sour citrus. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry tart finish. Flavors of sour citrus, blackberry and light straw with a crisp dry lingering tart citrus finish.

Deep purple-maroon hue body; splotches of white foam scatter on the surface and attach themselves to my glass.

Funky, fruity aroma surprised me with its bold yeast presence. Dry, blankety, plenty of Brett, crushed blackberry essence. Smooth carb on the palate, juicy fruit, sourness is perfectly balanced. Excellent.

Pours a purple color with two fingers of fizzy pink foam. The nose is lots of earthy berry, barnyard hay and some musky oak. The palate follows with a nice blackberry seltzer backbone that gains complexity from the musty barrel and imparts a touch of round toasted vanilla nuance that rounds out the acidity a bit and complements the dusty barnyard grain. Tasty !

Bottle at the parentals, split with the Wife. Pour is a beautifully purplish-maroon color with very little head, if any. Funky, cheesy, slightly acidic, jammy, raspberries, blackberries, urine, somewhat horsey, and doughy aroma. Taste is sweet fruity, very tart, plummy, red grapes, oak, dark berries, bkueberries, green apples, and red wine vingear - though not overly acidic. Light body with medium carbonation. A very sour beer, that maintains balance from the sweetness of the fruit. Well done.

transparent chestnut with large bubbled white spotty head. Funky ash berry nose. Flavor thin but more focused, lactic berries with phenolic rubber hints, fruity but very thin, low carbonation, fruit skin all over.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a clear ruby color with a large frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy sour yeast, wood and berry aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy sour fruit flavor with a medium to heavy sweet & sour finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer for style.

Pours dark red like a good red wine. Aroma of blackberry and elderberries, with the trademark sour yeast. Active carbonation, from 2013 cellar. Thick rich dark berry taste, significantly tart. Fruit and vitamins of the night. Thanks Jason B.

12.7oz bottle shared by alexsdad06. Hazy, dark raspberry kind of purple color, looks cool. Little ring of white head. Awesome oaky tart fruity berry aroma. Kind of floral. Great nose. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Great light sour tart taste, light sweet. Very enjoyable, fantastic sour. Great one to end a tasting of heavy beers with.

375ml bottle from my 2013 Crooked Stave Reserve Membership. Kudos to adnielsen as usual for the assists. Pours a deep blackberry crimson hue, purple with a decent haziness in the body. Cranberry juice splash with some reddish purplle glow on the edges and bottom. Loose bubbly offwhite head atop stays as a melllow filmy layer, dies down firmly with small lacing and stick around overall. Aromas show some firm sourness, lemony and bretty with yogurty cultures, dusty funk and tannic oak. Some blackberry juice and fruit, a bit pulpy and tart, some seedy elements are more mellow as the fruit doesn稚 quite take off until you settle into. Blackberry skin and seedy elements. Tart, juicy, the funk comes in firmly, cobwebs and horseblanket, dust and oak. Initial is lighter end of the fold, some decent to middling tannic and seedy blackberry hit, tart and dry, a bit fuzzy as we start moving on. Farmhouse yeast meets dust and funk, a bit of straw, florals and earth. Gentle yogurt, the body is a bit flabby and undercarbonated but the blackberry element meets oak, the skin melding into a more tannic and dry experience as you round the corner. Some dust, cobwebs, and gentle sweaty element. Lingering fruit, yeast and funk, oak and firmer brett element, yogurt and dryness as we taper out and finish up. The house yeast seems a bit dominant here and the blackberry seems a bit underdone for my liking. It痴 tart and sour at times, but really much more bretty overall, the body a touch flabby and undercarbed. Still it tastes quite nice just lacks some oomph, body, and carbonation which really might elevate this experience. Nose is good but not assertive. Front end more assertive and acidic at the end of the pour. Solid stuff overall.
