This rating is for the Dry Hopped version. Im not sure why this beer is aliased when its a different beer but I guess I’ll just have to add separate reviews to this rating, but i digress. This is fantastic. Aroma is nice funk, tart fruit aromas, and a rustic woodyness. Taste is vinous, citrus, tart, funk, some apple and peach. What a fantastic beer. Maybe could use a squeak more carbonation but hard to find a flaw here.

Bottle, thanks to Bruce for sharing!! Slightly hazy straw pour, small bubbly white head. Nose and flavor bring cheesy funk, mango, kiwi skin, tangerine, apricot, peach Greek yogurt. Tangy, acidic, but clean on the finish, with medium carbonation. Pretty good stuff.

12.7 oz bottle. Pours hazy golden orange with a small white head that goes to a thin film.

The aroma is straw malts, soft tropical fruit, earthy brett and some tart acidic notes.

The flavor is sweet tropical fruit quickly followed by a lot of tart, acidic sourness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Overall, this has aged nicely - nice blend of sweet tropical fruit, earthy brett and tart acidic sourness.

Draught at CBC 2014. Hazy hay yellow liquid with a small to medium white head. Aroma of peaches, lemons, bread, light vinegar and funk. Taste is dry and medium sour with notes of peaches and lemon. Light to medium bodied with medium carbonation. Really good.

February 2nd, 2013 - Moving on from the Nightmare on Brett series is L’Brett D’or, a beautiful, Gaullic sounding sour. My review begins like this: "Wow! WOW!" It’s rare for me to put emotional injections into my notes, so this is a testament to the powerful initial impression this beer makes. The nose is pungent with a hyper-sour yawp, and ululations of tangerine, jasmine, honeysuckle and fresh leather. Notably, this is the best leather note I’ve ever experienced, almost edible in its presentation (which is a very strange thought.) The flavor brings some nutmeg and egg nog to the mix, layered on top of the sweet-sour notes I know and love from good Flemish sour ales. With much sucking and sighing I try to track what brews this reminds me of, and I conjure up the image of a mildly aged La Folie, but more complex and refined, and that’s a remarkable feat. This makes Crooked Stave memorable to me, and puts it up on a pedestal on the first go. I only fear that everything else will have the same epiphany, crowding out Stave’s small bar. They deserve the accolades and business.

Bottle shared with pat, Vinny and Dallas. Pours a clear golden body with thin white lacing. Aroma is sour fruit, tart character, oak, wine and lemons. Mouthfeel is medium and tart with a nice lively sour fruit flavor and musky oak tones. Bright sour lemon, light acidity, white wine and grape.

330 ml bottle, kindly shared by kraddel. Pours hazy yellow with a quickly dissapating head. Aroma is overwhelmingly citus, but very nice citrus aroma’s, close to gueuze citrus notes, some wheat. Medium body and a taster that is subtlely referring to elderberry.

Bottle thnx to Experiment_ale ! Pours unclear blonde , small white head . Smell is sour , grainy , citrussy , some brett . Taste is sour, funky ( not the average brett-tastes ) bit dry . Certainly not bad, but I do not get the hype of this brewery ...

Batch 2. Pretty clear gold. Excellent nose of pineapple brett, light funk, maybe light oak. Quite tart, lot of brett character, some red clay earth, light cobwebs. Another of those ones from CS that leaves me scratching my head over the hype.
