wedgie9 (2598) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - JAN 3, 2014
From the 2012 Cellar Reserve
Tasted on 1/3/14 from a waxed and capped 375mL bottle, big thanks to adnielsen for being a great trustee. Pours hazy orange/golden with a thick white head that slowly recedes to average, sticky lace. The nose is super sour and funky/earthy with a bunch of citrus and white wine vinegar, and a very unique tropical and citrus hops aroma. The flavor is almost exactly as the nose would have suggested, with a bit more caramel malt and vanilla barrel character, but the same sour citrus, white wine vinegar, and tropical fruit hops. The body is medium with some nice barrel tannin, lively, nearly sparkling, carbonation, and a long sour citrus and tropical hops finish. This beer is really great, the only beers close I’ve ever had were Cuvee des Champions and Le Terroir, but I find this to be a bit more balanced than both.

phaleslu (9255) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 8, 2016
Bottle from Craft Beer Cellar-Clayton. Pours a cloudy pale gold with a small fizzy white head that settles into a ring and some spotty film. Looks somewhat like a carbonated white wine. Notes of pear, lemon, apple, white grapes, cheesecloth, yogurt, oak, and vanilla. Light-bodied, with moderate to medium carbonation and a clean, dry, tart mouthfeel. These guys are so consistent; this is no exception.

Sampled from tap at ’Beertemple’ during Carnivale Brettanomyces 2016 as ’L’Brett d’Or Dry Hop’. Slightly hazy, straw yellow with a white head. Sourish, very fruity and a little funky aroma of lemon, gooseberry, passion fruit, some oak and a bit of wheat. Very sour, fruity and a little funky taste of lemon, gooseberry, passion fruit, some rhubarb, wheat and some oak, followed by a medium long, rather tart and dry finish. Thin to medium body, very astringent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Nice, but again very simple.

On tap at Beertemple. Clear pale yellow with a thin white head. Smells like gooseberries, white grapes, white wine and macerated fruit.
