Bottle. Brownish ruby red pour with a 1 finger head that fades to a messy, foamy ring. Aroma is packed with red grapes and dark fruit. Moderate leathery/barnyard brett too. Tastes like dry cherry skins, apple skins, red wine and light barnyard. Very acidic. Light to moderate sourness. Good but not great.

40th Crooked Stave beer, 5,000th rating. Deep dark ruby brown with an off-white ring of foam around the edge. Lots of honey and brandy barrel and something like plums on the nose. Amazing flavor with dark sweet Belgian malts, plum and dates, with a twangy sour flavor that’s not puckering but kinda close. Lovely brandywine and oak barrel flavors on the funky and dryish finish. Lots of dark Belgian sweetness throughout. Very tasty.

bottle at home - B2 2013. Pours hazy brown with a light red hue. Nearly no head. Dee oaky nose yet with loads of lactic yoghurt aromas. Overly acidic body, flat and dull. Nearly no other taste but yoghurt. Bummer.

Superdecent all the way, but seems bit boring. Lovely fruitiness, dark fruits, grapes, plums, cherries, raisins, berries, oak, leather (?), light caramel. Bit overpowering sourness. Lovely drink, but I would prefere others from same genre

Pours a deep burgundy red with a slight burgundy head which soon disappears without a trace. Aroma is red grapes, cranberries and malt vinegar. Taste is vinous, lemon tart and a strawberry sweet finish.

Deep clear, dark red-mahogany, no head. Smells of tart cherries, vanilla, molasses. Some funky basement aromas. Quite tart, sour. Some sweetness, not a ton. Long finish, medium body, some oiliness, quite acidic. Really nice.

Bottled. Pours amber with a small beige head. Aroma of yeast, barnyard, wood and red grapes. Slightly sweet flavor that end up dry and tart. Light to medium bodied, watery to oily textbure and flat to soft carbonation. A very nice Sour indeed.

Taste comprises tarte red grape, damp wood, red berry, funk, tannins, oaky red wine soak. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light acidity and puckerings. Solid Flemish red.

(375ml bottle) clear deep reddish brown with fine edge bubbles. Nose of yogurt, tart berry, wood barrel, lacto. Taste is even better than the nose, tart yogurt, medium tart cherry, Lacto, mild barrel character that’s well integrated, really easy to drink sour beer. Love the palate finish.

Very nice dark fruit, oaky aroma. Dark cherry. Taste is dark cherry, oak and get a burgundy finish. Really nice and complex. Almost a slight watery palate for how complex and strong the flavors are. Sour is maybe 6 of 10. Mostly lactic sour but has a bit of barnyard funk as well. Very complex and nice sour. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
