0.9 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20
(750ml bottle, Batch 5/11, Bottle 285/1765) Pours a lightly hazy golden body with a small off-white head. The aroma of an office holiday tin of cheddar popcorn that has been sitting around for a good year, then eaten, and vomited up; some light lemon zest too. Flavor of lemon, butter, and stomach acid. Horrid. Should not have been released in this state. I think Crooked Stave owes me a beer. Btw, their other sours are good though.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
The beer pours a cloudy orange color with a tall white head. Super cheesy on the nose. Smells quite a bit like the powdered parmesan cheese. A bit of guava and tartness, but itís hard to get past the cheese. The flavor isnít quite as cheesy, but itís still there. A bit more guava, malt, wood, and tartness, but not enough to save this beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled at the Funky 8 - Barcade, Brookly, NYC. Pours cloudy, amber gold with a moderate, off-white head. A bit funky, a bit cheesy. Definitely some sort of guava character in there. Fairly tangy and acidic. Not bad.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Jason Bach, from 1.5 years ago. It seems people had some bad luck storing this beer, or receiving bottles not properly sealed. I had none of that. While we got some initial nail polish aroma,, I found the yeast aroma to be fine. A nice sour, great carbonation with honeydew, cucumber, lime, fruity kiwi. A very tasty sour finish. Enormous bubbly creamy head.

1.6 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottle 285/1765, Batch 5/11. Pours with a hazy golden hued body with a massive, foamy, tan head. Aromas of diacetyl, butter, butyric acid, bile, light esters and cheddar cheese. Flavors are slightly better, but not much. Acidic, bile, fruity esters, cheese popcorn. Lively bubbles, dry and acidic. While I liked the other Crooked Stave beers I had, this one was completely undrinkable!

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: AUG 16, 2011 Bottle @ home. First tasting was on tap and a very trying experience. Vomit nose with an acidic (citrusy) vomit flavor. This was tasted at the end of June. This bottle was opened in the middle of August, so the beer has some age. Pretty cloudy, orange appearance with an off-white head. Heavy butyric acid (most Iíve ever come across in a commercial beer), stinky cheese, parmesan, buttery, funky, light citrus fruity nose. If you donít think vomit, the nose is interesting, buttery, and cheese-like. Somewhat sour, some citrus fruity (lemon, guava, mango), lemony tart, somewhat funky flavor with a slightly dry finish. For me to optimally enjoy this beer, I think parmesan when I smell the beer and ignore the aroma and examine the citrusy, funkiness when tasting. Iím sure thereís going to be some variance on the ratings on this beer, but itís very unique brew nonetheless. Bottle 1387/1765.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle that I took to a tasting at Paulís. Pours a hazed amber with a medium sized off white head. Musky, and super cheesy. Smells like a mediocre Parmesan with a touch of guava jelly smeared over it. Medium bodied, nice bright acidity and some jammy guava notes. Tastes far exceeds the nose, sweet and acidic, delicous. Really nice stuff. Highly drinkable once you get past the overly cheesy nose. Lingering acidity and bright jamminess.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle shared by Jay at Paulís. Pours cloudy yellow gold with white head. Nose/taste of exotic fruits, lemon and wild yeast. A bit of dry diaper in the nose but not on the taste. Medium body. Good carbonation.
