Vieille meaning “Old” is our artisinal barrel-aged Saison, lightly dry hopped. Each batch release is a diverse blend of Vieille casks that have taken on a soft Brettanomyces character before being lightly dry hopped. Dominated by a floral, citrusy hop character, a subtle herbal note and a tart finish, Vieille’s character exemplifies artisan Saisons.

Bottle from a trade a while back. Pours a light yellow color with big white head. Little bit nod a funky aroma cheese. Crisp clean flavor. Finish is a little earthy and dirty. Hay and grass flavors. Subtle light and smooth. Really good saison with all the hop and spice aspects but adding a little more entertaining notes with the the yeast and funkiness.

Bottle from Total Wine in Boca Raton. Poured into a snifter at home. Pours a cloudy gold-yellow with a thick head. Some lacing. Aroma is lemon, orange peel, brett, hay, fresh bailed straw, and barrel. The taste is superb with the citrus (lemon and orange peel) , herbs, spices, brett yeasts, and fresh hay. Sprite carbonation, light body. Serious flavors.

A hazed straw body sports a fading medium sized frothy smooth head with a couple thin peninsulas of lace

Controlled earthy, fruity funk with a subtle oak influence leads the way, moving into a cleaner white grape layer on a light body building some creaminess to a light plus weight with tickling carbonation, the finish dries and cleans quickly, verging on sour

Bottle brought from CO brother, shared with ck1 at sister’s during family holiday weekend. Thanks Ken! Pinkish pour with white edges. Tart and sour oaky. Not my idea of a saison, but very interesting. 15.1

Batch #9, 2014: pours a darker golden with light white fizzy head. Tartness, funk, citrus, and wood on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes tart and dry. Nice.

Keg at the Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014 - yellow session. Yellow straw colloured pour with a steady white head that fades to s film. Sroma is funky, flowery hop, and some pineapple. Saison yeast, hay. Flavour is spicy pineapple, lemon, and funky musty notes with a touch of sourness. Palate is light and crisp, some tartness in the finish. Lingering dunky mustyness.

All around fantastic saison. Dark gold pour. Brett, wheat, grass, lemon in taste and smell. Balanced, crisp, slightly tart. Fantastic light mouthfeel. Could drink all day.

Une autre surprise de Peter. Marci mon Gerry! Batch 9, 2014. Formidable accompagnement estival.

Courtesy of Josh, batch 5
Hazy golden color with medium head. Deep aroma, old world style, spicy, some Brett, light lemon. Soft mouthfeel, lemony flavor with moderate acidity and a quite nice Brett presence.
Refreshing, interesting.
