3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
375ml bottle. Batch 4 2013. Pours a lightly hazy yellow color with a small white head that has fair retention. The aroma is fairly pungent with floral, perfume, straw and some mild funk. The taste is lemons, straw, pepper and urinal cake. The palate is light and smooth with soft carbonation. Finishes long and dry. Overall: Interesting, but not my cup-o-tea.

2013, Batch 6; Sampled December 2013
A steady pour into my large Tripel Karmeliet tulip produces a 1/2-finger thick, pale tan colored head. The beer is a pale honey color that shows a lightly hazed, light gold hue when held up to the light. The aroma has a nice herbal hoppiness to it followed by a touch of hoppy citrus character as well as some straw like malt, and a touch of chewy pale grain cracker notes. The fermentation character contributes a definite mustiness, this is likely accentuated by some soft oak notes, a bit of peppery spice character, and a light fruitiness.
Softly carbonated, but with a surprisingly full body for a beer of this strength, it is by no means heavy, but has a nice chewiness to it. Bitter up front through to the finish with a nice hop character that leans more towards herbal than anything; slightly peppery, sort of pine like, but not really, and srot of menthol like, but, again, not really. There is a soft, but chewy, pale grain cracker note here in the middle, as well as an accentuating grassy, dried hay like character. There is a soft tartness here, as well as an astringent, woody oak bite towards the finish. The oak accentuates a peppery spiciness, and the woodiness accentuates the herbal notes in this beer. The hop character also has a soft citrus character that combines with a buttery oak character and perhaps funky ripe cheesy note. There is a light mustiness to the flavor, and perhaps a touch of phenolic character.
Tis beer is quite well balanced, very tasty too, and it is a mix of components that really work for me. this beer drinks much more characterfully than a beer of this strength should.

Trade from my favorite American trader, thanks Sean. Unclear yellow body with a medium white head. Citrus hops, white wine notes, oak, brett, yellow wine gums, tart notes. Flavor is dry and crispy. Really pleasant, easy drinkable. Great.
