COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Vieille meaning “Old” is our artisinal barrel-aged Saison, lightly dry hopped. Each batch release is a diverse blend of Vieille casks that have taken on a soft Brettanomyces character before being lightly dry hopped. Dominated by a floral, citrusy hop character, a subtle herbal note and a tart finish, Vieille’s character exemplifies artisan Saisons.

Bridging the gap between saison and sour, this is a well rounded and unique beer. Smells almost like the duchess. Sour taste leads into light hop, very pleasant and lively. Not too many signs of sweet, but not strong bitter- dry finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Grassy, fruity aromas with an effervescent light fruity flavor with a little funk going on. Damn fine beer.

12.7 oz. bottle, consumed on 3-25-16. Labeled “July 2015,” presumably a “bottled in” month. Initially clear (but hazy in later pours), bright, borderline brilliant, almost orange-ish gold. Final pour has an apricot nectar-like appearance from the yeast. Moderate amount of short-lasting, beige head. Sparkling, fast-rising bubbles. Looks good and appetizing. Tangy, citric aroma. The smell definitely is of Brett, but it’s decidedly young Brett. Orange, tangerine, and grapefruit scents. Apple juice. Highly appetizing smell. Tart, citric, acidic taste. Fresh lemons. Apple cider vinegar. Olive brine. Minerals. Toothpaste with baking soda. Quite tart in fact, perhaps slightly excessively so. Some of that Band-Aid like bitter, medicinal, chemical quality that often comes with Brett, but not much and not in a bad way. A lot going on in the flavor. Pleasant, milky, chalky, dry aftertaste. Medium body, heavier than I expected given the low ABV. Some froth in the palate. Easy to drink and refreshing.

375ml bottle (Beerfox, Riga)
Lovely fruity aroma, plenty of esters, but light. Hazy straw, small brief head. Very light palate, gentle acidity. Almost a bit watery. Gentle bready malts, bretty herbal dryness, but some other wild yeast causing the acidity. A bit boring, to be honest. Might be a mood thing, but this is not the beer for me right now.

Bottle acquired by Qponnagy at Princeton Liquors. Consumed on March Madness Day 2 with Qponnagy and commonshawn. Hazy, unfiltered lighter golden color with minimal head. Sediment presence. Aroma brings to mind quintessential sour with an aggressive citrus presence. Taste is super tart with lemon and sour characteristics abound. Aggressive flavors initially before giving way to a quiet aftertaste and finish. Definitely not my style but one of the cleaner sour saisons I’ve consumed. Punished because I can’t imagine drinking it again.

12oz bottle from Princeton liquor with commonmac and Qponnagy during March madness. Light gold with medium white head. Very tart sour nose. Super sour. Lemon. Tart. Can’t pull out a lot of other flavors. A clean taste, but you have to love sours.
