COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
St. Bretta is our 100% Brettanomyces Whitebier that was just released this week! Not only is St. Bretta an evolution of Wild Wild Brett Orange, but also it will be ever-changing depending on the fresh citrus available that season. For our spring release we decided to brew St. Bretta with fresh Minneola Tangelo. Each seasonal release of St. Bretta will have a diverse range of citrus fruit added to keep the beer fresh and exciting (the summer release was brewed with blood oranges)!

Bottle shared by Alan at a session, pours very cloudy yellow with medium white head. Aromas and flavor of tart lemon, hay, heavy brett, tropical zest, spice, grapefruit and tangerine. Body was medium with average to high carbonation. Puckery sour finish. Really a bright sniffing and tasting brew from Crooked. Cheers

375ml bottle from Aaron. Thanks! Pours a cloudy, hazy yellow color with a white head. Aroma is yeasty, funky, citrus, orange. Medium on the palate with average carbonation. Flavor is sweet, malty, wheat, orange, citrus, black peppercorns, some light funky sourness, with a tart, orange finish. Nice.

Funk sour, but very bitter. No real fruit flavors to balance. Descent, but not a great wild ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The Sampler, Brooklyn 375ml ($9): Pours a hazy light orange with a white head. Aroma is the bretty funk, with some wood, with a winy feel to it, but better. Taste is citrus, sour funk. Aftertaste is sour citrus. It is kind of like sour candy, but more natural tasting. Quite good, but not as much of a Belgian Witbier as just a sour. Quite good though.

Bottle as part of a sour swap! Pour has a lightly hazed golden color with a coating of white head that held on well. aroma has big brett, orange zest, citrus rind, wheat, and flowers. Mouth feel is light but coats well with lower carbonation. Flavor again has earthy brett, increasing orange, lemon rind, light acidity, and a growing funk. This really opened up as it went along and looking up what a minneola tangelo is I can wrap myself around it better. I can appreciate the combination of grapefruit and sweet orange colision.

12oz Bottle ’13 release. Ordered 2 of these and let sit in the cellar for 3 weeks before opening. Still poured a very bright, cloudy gorgeous beer. Not much head or lacing. Smells like tangerines, honeysuckle, and white wine. Reminds me a lot of Hill Farmstead Mimosa...not entirely but it’s close. Taste is not like MImosa though :) Earthy, wheat-heavy, nice acidic finish. Sweet and very very dry. Lovely nectarine juice with a hint of tart. It’s a great beer. I wish I had more of these!!!!

375ml bottle. Cloudy pour with decent head but no retention. Nose of mostly fruit, brett, and funk. Taste is pretty enjoyable with a nice balance of brett, fruit, oak, grapes, vinegar. Medium acidity and dry finish. Good stuff.

375 ml bottle courtesy of adnielsen. Thanks, Aaron. Pours a cloudy well hazed orange glowing hue, a but dull in the middle but as it settles some better glowing hues come through. A frothy whitish head atop stays as a small filmy layer, laces ok. Aromas offer firm bretty funk, cobwebs, and barynard. A faint cheesiness quickly is overrun by some pleasant oranges, orange rind, some citrus and gentle tangerine. Juicy, some florals and grass mix with a gentle tannic oak presence. Bready, with firm coriander, lemon, and touches of spiciness, gentle yeast. The brett kicks firmly, big citrusy orange middle and bread, firm brett, funk, cobwebs. Melloe more spicy backend and finish as the brett dries this sucker out more, oak aids in it’s quest. Fairly bright front and middle taper off into a dry funky backend, spiciness. Really goes through the ringer. Quite enjoyable.

Pour from a 12 oz bottle - thanks Armin! Hazy golden pour with a slight white head. Big citrus in the nose with a hint of barnyard funk. Tartness gives way to lime and some other citrus. There is also a pleasant amount of bitterness mixed in the finish. Lovely stuff. I wish I had purchased a bunch more when I visited a few weeks ago.
