St. Bretta is our 100% Brettanomyces Whitebier that was just released this week! Not only is St. Bretta an evolution of Wild Wild Brett Orange, but also it will be ever-changing depending on the fresh citrus available that season. For our spring release we decided to brew St. Bretta with fresh Minneola Tangelo. Each seasonal release of St. Bretta will have a diverse range of citrus fruit added to keep the beer fresh and exciting (the summer release was brewed with blood oranges)!

Bottle, 08/07/2013. Golden pour, copper, white head dies and rests hazy on the surface. Aroma is light lemon and tangerine essence, soft cereal wheat with healthy barn funk, damp. Taste is bright orange citrus, funky wheat bread, brett and light grassy spices, lingering dry fruity finish. Medium body. Pleasant.

375ml Bottle. The pour was a murky golden yellow with an average (1-2 finger) white fluffy head that slowly receded, down to a thin film and a small collar with good runny lacing. The aroma was slightly mild of a straw malt and a musty Brett yeast with notes of citrus (orange and lemon), coriander and a light tartness. The taste was mildly sweet with a hint of orange at first, but quickly became extremely yeasty and somewhat tart with a citrusy lemon finish. The flavor hung on for a good long time following the swallow, with a tart citrusy taste left lying on the taste buds. Mouthfeel was just below the halfway point between light and medium in body with a dry, watery texture and a medium carbonation. Overall this was a superb Witbier! Very satisfyingly, refreshing, tasty and easy to drink. I have to say this brewer never seems to disappoint... www.facebook.com/KAJIIsBeerReviews

375mL capped bottle poured into St. Bernardus tasting glass. A pale golden color atop a small head. Aroma is nicely breath - kind of horse blanket with a bit of soft sweet sweat. Floral and faint phenolics. A good aroma is follows up by a striped out flavor. Seems like the brett has stripped the flavor away. Some light paint thinner brett. I think I get some of that tangelo at the end of flavor. It’s like a perfume dry citrus.

375ml bottle in a tulip. Pours hazy golden with an off-white head. Aroma of Brett tartness, some citrus, and some light malts, wheat and spices. Flavor the same with a good tartness and citrus note dominating. Average texture. A pretty good beer.

Bottle. I'm a sucker for Brett, but this lacked the special something that can normally be found in Crooked Stave brews. Good thing I followed this up with the amazing Hop Savant.
