Brewed with traditional harvest grains. Surette is a provision Saison with a tart and vinous character from extended barrel aging.

On tap at crooked stave pours a hazy orange with a large off white head. Tart orange and apricot taste.

Bottle. Not sure why I spent as much as I did for this, especially after drinking it. Decent beer, but not worth the pricetag. Golden orange, flat as a 10 year old girl. Super tart, like SweetTart candy, puckeringly cloying, acidic and sweet at the same time. I could sell this as old lemonade to kids if it weren’t illegal to do that. Again, a decent rep, and can certainly see some fans behind this, but doesn’t stand out in an increasingly crowded field. (#5863, 11/17/2014)

My first Crooked Stave. Quite an expensive bottle at $13. Light orange body with white head and lacing, not much retention. Vinous aroma, a touch metallic and grainy. Taste is tart, dry and vinous, lactose, rhubarb. More of a sour ale than a typical saison. Not puckeringly sour Iike I prefer, but still a solid sour saison.

Bottle... Pours hazy and golden with a mid-sized, frothy, white head. Fantastic, tight retention. Fruity, funky nose with lactic acidity, oak and a medley of stone fruits. Medium-bodied and exceptionally creamy with airy carbonation. The tart, lightly spicy flavor presents a mild, crusty bitterness that lingers longer than any other aspect. Bottle courtesy of Alden Bing at Orchid Island Brewery!

Backlog rating. 12oz bottle from bierkompass. It pours a clean golden color with a small white head. Aroma is funky brett with dried apricots and yeasty bread. Taste is grassy and acidic upfron, with a tart finish. Notes of orange marmalade, white wine, dust, funk. Medium bodied and lively carbonated. Really really tasty

Catching up on ratings.......Pours a nice cludy yellow with a mild head. Aroma of tartness, some fruits, and funk. Taste follow the nose well and is very balanced and not overly sour and funky. Super tasty with a relatively dry finish.

A beautiful tart saison, pretty clear golden color, some tart funk on the nose but not a tart bomb. Hay and sweetness balance the sour fruitiness well. So good.

375 ml bottle. 2014 batch 13. From a trade with jcnielsen. Thanks a lot Justin!
Cloudy golden colour with a small off-white head. Tart and sour aroma with some woody, malty and vinous notes. Great! The flavour is strong tartness with red berries, some sourness and dry maltiness. This is pretty close to Belgian Lambics. Very nice and tasty.

Hazy golden pour with a light, white head. Aroma of isovaleric, sweaty cheese, acetic, and overall funk. Flavor is sour, cheesy, little vinegar. Not sure if it’s a saison, but it’s good either way.

Aroma is spiced apple cider, taste is sour up front, then earthy, funky, sweet. A dry, sour feeling left in your mouth at the end. Enjoying this.
