3.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
From a 375 ml bottle. Pours a light hazy gold with a thin rapidly dissipating head. Aroma has some moderate funk to it, but not oppressively so. Also has notes of carmel, lemon, and grapfruit. The taste is fantastic starting with the balanced flavors of tart citrus tang and mild sweet malt. Some light vinous overtones are also present and some oak flavors from the barrel aging. The finish leaves a crisp tart aftertaste on the palate. The carbonation is light as is the mouthfeel. An outstanding saison. Complex but still very crisp and refreshing.

Bottle. Sour lemony aroma. Flavour is quite sour but not overly so, nice lemony saison notes. Quite enjoyable.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2014. Batch 10.

Bottle from Beergium.com. Sour and bitter with some citrus and grapes. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Taste is sour and very nice. Fresh and bitter at the same time. Very nice feeling easy and pleasant, An okay saison but there definitely are better ones.

4.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
The appearance is a golden hue with a thin white head that vanishes instantly. Smell is modest with light fruit and tartness. Flavor is much stronger than the nose. Light fruit, lemony with a hint of peach. The lactic tartness has a punch but soft. The carbonation cleans your tongue nicely making the beer very refreshing. Much more sour than most saisons, but still quite enjoyable.

Tap at CBC 2014. Beer in the glass orange-golden, nice head. Mild sourish aroma. Starts quite malty, modest sourish, fine fruity like lemon and apricot. Malty-sourish finish, light moldy. Okay.

UPDATED: AUG 30, 2014 So I’m curious about why someone would call a beer brewed with wild yeast, a ’saison’. Hill Farmstead seem to do this too. Not that it really matters as long as the beer is damn fine. And in this case it is. Bottle at the Craft Beer Co. Clapham. Clear golden amber, small white head. Nose is tart, sour, sharp lemon, lemon rind and then some very clean minerally notes and clean white vinegar. Classic American sour. Very little funk. Taste is sour, tart, slight white vinegar, white apple, clean flinty minerals, very very slight horsehair blanket. Good lip puckering refreshing sour beer, with clean refined lines, but lacking the big pungent rustic flavours of Belgian lambics.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Wish lister. Cloudy orange. musty aroma. With extended oak aging critters and all, this really blurs the line between a Saison/farmhouse ale/wild ale. Heavy oak present in the aroma and especially flavor. Full flavored and bodied for 6% beer. Tart and fruity, with a dry peppery finish. I like this very much. 4.25 if I could.

Beer Bloggers Conference - San Diego - Big Belgian Siason flavor and aroma. Light barrel aging this was a super beer.
