3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 onceblind (2536) - Denver, Colorado, USA - DEC 8, 2012
Tap at the taproom. Hazy golden with a thin white head. Potent aroma from inches away from the glass. Leafy hoppy funkiness, bacterial wood yeast, and moderate sourness. Flavor was nice and funky with mild sourness, sour wood notes, pale grains, rye, hay, and a drying citric sourness that was nice and quiet and balancing. Finish didn’t linger too long, but was nice and pleasing, bringing me back for more sips.

On tap at Crooked stave poured a cloudy tarnished gold with a lasting creamy white head. Aromas of straw, sour citrus, barnyard funk and light earthiness. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry lightly tart finish. Flavors of straw, lemon zest, light barnyard and a hint of earthiness with a crisp dry lightly tart lingering funky citrus finish.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 notalush (4174) - Denver, Colorado, USA - NOV 3, 2012
Tap at the Barrel Cellar - turbid orange - huge, frothy head - sadly, it has that mildew and moldy peach skin note in the aroma that was so present in the Surette Reserva - however, it also has some tropical notes and musky Brett character - soft carbonation - creamy mouthfeel - medium sweet tropical fruit notes - some straw/hay - musky/earthy funk on the tail end - sadly, some strong, bitter wood and mild butyric acid are also present - the worst qualities of both beers are showcased here - too bad.

Tap @ Crooked Stave. Pours a cloudy yellow orange appearance with a fairly small white head. Pineapple, a bit bretty, vanilla, light grape, lemon, slightly tart aroma. Somewhat refreshing, lemon citrusy, pineapple, light tropical fruity, straw flavor. Not nearly as much as tartness as Surette Reserva, so I imagine it’s a fairly small part of the blend.

On tap at the Barrel Cellar. Pour is hazy golden with little-to-no head an decent lacing. Light spice, white grapes, biscuit, oak, green, apples, and funk in the aroma. Taste is white grapes, green apples, biscuit, light caramel corn, some spice in there, and pear with a lightly tart finish. Light body with soft carbonation. Not bad.
