UPDATED: JUN 21, 2013 750ml Bottle. The pour was a hazy medium honey orange with an average sized (1-2 finger) white fizzy head that reduced quickly to a thin layer of foam that was left lying on top, thus producing some really nice sheets of lace. The aroma had kind of funky odor to it and was of a straw like malt, a citrus hop and a barnyard scented yeast with notes of orange, tangerine, ripe peaches, apricot, a touch of oak and a mild tartness. The taste was sweet and malty with a nice notes of orange, apricot and hints of citrus from the start, and had a strong yeasty sour finish with just a light hint of a woody fruit taste at the end. The flavor lasted a wonderfully long time allowing for the melding of flavors to relax on the taste buds. Mouthfeel was just a tad beyond light in body with a nice dry texture and a prickly carbonation. Overall an exceptionally tasty and refreshing brew, one with a nice fruity sour flavor that most definitely left you wanting more. www.facebook.com/KAJIIsBeerReviews

Bottle, thanks Ben. Aroma: tropical fruits, barnyard, lemon, apples. App: hazy golden brownish, small white head. Taste and palate: medium body, aqueous, vineous, high carbonation, dry light acidity finish. Overall: I really got the meaning of the description of this beer after the first sip. Definitely a tart and vineous mouthfeel. Really pleasant. A complex beer that I really hope I can get my hands on again.

Bottle. Pours a light yellow-golden with a small, white, soapy head. Aroma has oak, peach, vanilla, hops, apricot, dust and barn. Taste is citrussy and peach/apricot fruity sour with a lot of funky yeast going on. Slight fruity sweetness as well as some vanilla. Very lactic sour with a slightly grainy berliner-weisse finish. Medium light body with a dry end. Medium-high carbonation.

375 ml bottle, as Crooked Stave Surette Provision Saison Artisan Ale Aged in Oak Barrels, 2014 batch 13. ABV is 6.2%. At Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Slightly hazy golden colour, low white head of poor retention. Sourish aroma, strong notes of farmhouse, lemons, white wine vinegar and oak. Very sour and lemony flavour, medium dry, nearly like an unblended lambic, some oaky notes. Not a saison by any stretch of the mind.

Bottle. Pours really hazy yellow with golden shine, nice half-finger white head. Aroma is funky, leather, elderflower, tart apples, dry cherries and some oaky vanilla. Taste is tart with slight spices, red apples, berries. facto cereals in finish. Creamy body and ends out really mouth drying. Loads of peach, apricot and dusty fruits in there too.

Bottle from Brewfest. Caramel hazy with white ring and lace. Pungent stanky cheese with caramel Sugar Daddy . Fruity tart but overripe with mouthcoating sour milk and white wine. Medium body sort of flat internal carbonation. I don’t get it. I think I am not as into sours as I thought I was. I definitely prefer a brett beer with just a little funky farmhouse and a really dry hoppy finish. This just doesn’t taste good to me.

Hazy pale color, a bit darker than I'd expect for a saison. Very sour tart smell. Very low carbonation in this bottle. Tart taste.

Pours slightly hazy amber with a thick and frothy ivory head. Malty aroma has a strong yeasty and bready overtone. Flavor is a pleasant surprise, fruity - mainly pear and sour apple - and malty, with bready yeast as an undertone. Definitely one to sip and savor, not gulp. Texture is firm if not too fizzy. You’re Surette to enjoy it.

February 18, 2015 - bottle from Wine and Cheese. Cloudy yellow pour with some head that lasted for a bit and left some lacing. Aroma was spicy, grainy, fruity, light funk and oak. Taste was nicely balanced and consistent with the aroma. The spice was most dominant and strong in the finish with the oak, but not too much spice.

375 mL bottle from The Hop Yard, Raleigh, NC (2014 bottle, Batch 14). Dark orange pour with a frothy off-white head. Aroma of orange and lemon zest, mostly, with faint barnyard. Taste offers mild tartness, white wine, and oak. Lingering and refreshing tartness on the palate. Barely recognizable as a saison but certainly notable as an exceptional beer.
