Vieille meaning “Old” is our artisinal barrel-aged Saison, lightly dry hopped. Each batch release is a diverse blend of Vieille casks that have taken on a soft Brettanomyces character before being lightly dry hopped. Dominated by a floral, citrusy hop character, a subtle herbal note and a tart finish, Vieille’s character exemplifies artisan Saisons.

Profuse aromas and flavors of white grape skins, pear, tart apple and citrus, intermingle with mild funk and buttery barrel nuances. Prickly carbonation and tangy acidity shock the mid-palate and are only accentuated by the ultra-dry finish. Mouthwatering and refreshing for sure. Perfect for summer. --- tasted while on a long journey to understand the world around me...

On tap @ Tørst, Brooklyn. Yeah, this is heavy cloudy in the glass, deep dark golden in color and it has a small but heavy lacing dense white top. Nice soft citrus and some wheat on the nose with floral hints all the way. I get traces of farm and yeast as well. Nice. It has a thin oily mouthfeel, a bit thin perhaps and the carbonation level is small prickling. Nice flavors, it has a soft almost acidity all the way, some zesty citrus and little bit of hay. Really refreshing. Light grassy bitter finish. Could drink loads of this. 12.06.2013

375 ml bottle from adnielsen. Thanks, bro. Pours a nicely deep golden hue, healthy orange fiery glow, lively carbonation, gentle haze and frothy offwhite head sits atop, dies to a filmy layer, good stick around, nice lacing. Pretty. Aromas show tartness, lemon and apple meet straw, dough, and grainy malt. Gentle oak, vanilla, and wet wood. Some firm tartness, bigger lemony element overalll. Initial is lighter bodied overall, good lactic twang up front shows lemon, funky brett mixes in, some gentle apple, tartness and oak. Some straw, grainy. A bit spicy and yeasty into the middle, grainy malts, more funky brett strikes firmly, cobwebs and dust, some more oak. Backend starts to show more lactic elements, some dryness. A bit of natural yogurt, grainy elements, straw, a touch cereal. Lingering tart fruit dries out the finish. Lactic twang, sour lemons and apple meet some crisp cereal finish, dry and lingering tartness. That firm brett element chills into that finish, mellow and a subtle compliment from it’s more dominant middle position. Pretty tasty. 4.2%?? Wow. Packs some good symmetry and flow, good flavors for such a small beer. Nice. Fairly complex.

Bottle to glass. Gold pour with a mild foamy white head. Smells barn yard, some oak smokiness, yeast, and fruity hops. Taste is nice and smooth with some brett right up front into a yeast body with hay and mild hoppiness. Really smooth body with some light carbonation.

Bottle. New. Pours a brilliant gold with good initial head. The aroma is very full and distinct citrus, Brett, funk, tart, grassy herbal. The flavor is similar, strong Brett, intense herbal yeast and bitter end. Feel is lively, watery, slightly silty. Awesome refreshing beer.

12.7oz bottle, shared by caterwaul. Nearly entirely hazy golden orange color. Thin white head. Respectable bits of lace. Medium body. Lightly soft, crisp, lighter carbonation. More dry texture. Awesome aroma... Much more balanced than the Hop Savant I just had, I think... Very nice oaky tart lemony citrus, satisfying light spices and seasonings. Very satisfying moderate amount of tart. Lightly savory, light bitter. Can’t believe it’s only 4.2%... So much flavor and taste, for a beer so light. Very good.
