Vieille meaning “Old” is our artisinal barrel-aged Saison, lightly dry hopped. Each batch release is a diverse blend of Vieille casks that have taken on a soft Brettanomyces character before being lightly dry hopped. Dominated by a floral, citrusy hop character, a subtle herbal note and a tart finish, Vieille’s character exemplifies artisan Saisons.

Sour berry, citrus and some fruitiness in the aroma. The flavor of the bread, citrus and a little oak barrels. Certainly, this beer is sour but really good. Really good bitterness in the aftertaste that fills the front part of the mouth for a long time. A very enjoyable beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. Hazy pale straw-white coloured with a large foamy white head. It has a tart lemon and barnyard flavour, spicy fruity notes with a dry biscuit, vanilla, oak and herbal, tart Bret finish. Excellent!

Smooth crisp spiced aroma with a light color appearance. The aroma unfolds in the mouth and finishes with a tart coating. One of the best saisons I’ve had. Refreshing and to style. Soo drinkable, but very pricey.

(Bottle 0.375l/ sample) Thanks Blade86. Hazy, dark yellow colour. Medium sized, white, medium to fast falling head. Light body, medium carbonation, watery a bit oily texture. Aroma: Crisp and complex. Dried zest, citrus, sour red fruits, cherry stones, soft woody, soft barnyard, a bit yeasty. Taste: Light sweet, a bit tart, pale malts, barnyar, soft red fruits stones. A bit tannin, short finish. Impresive strong aroma, easy to drink, good saison.

Ljusgul, lätt grumlig. Luktar ljuvligt syrligt av källare. Bra balans av jäst och citrus. God

bottle @ home. Pours hazy yellow with a little white head. Dry and citrus fruity aroma with acidic notes plus hay and bread. Dry and moderately acidic taste with notes of lemon peel, grape, barnyard, hay, wood and lactic acid.

Bottle - Batch 8. Gold in colour with spritzy carbonation. Strong brett and lemon rind aromas, along with cut grass and barnyard elements. Quite tart and citric upfront in the mouth, along with notes of oak, more cut grass and funky brett. Bone dry with a chalky mineral finish. Tasty and complex, but a little too much to be all that "refreshing".

Lovely cloudy yellow color with a small white head. Sour berries, wood and citric aroma. Decent body for an 4,2% ale. Fine acidity and a bit dry. Average carbonation. Lots of brett here. Also citric, herbal and wood. Fresh nice saison.

Poured into a tulip. 3.75 A: Mildly hazed peach color. Two fingers of frothy white head. Retention is about average and about one finger of irregular lacing is left. 4.25 S: Big, bold nose on this. Really funky with all the barnyard aromas. Also musty basement, dry dusty wood, and some herbal notes. Lemongrass and apple. Dry with a grassy floweriness. Oak. 2.75 T: The taste isn’t nearly as good as the nose. First off, there’s a fairly strong tannic presence. Second, it’s much less funky and more tangy and tart. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it doesn’t work that well in this one. Tart apple, oak, sharp tanginess. There’s still some of the funk mentioned above, but not a whole lot. Woody with astringency. 3.25 M: Lighter body. Good moderate carbonation. Lightly spritzy. Astringent finish. 2.75 D: This would have been a lot better if it stayed out of the oak barrel. It picked up all the bad stuff in it. Serving type: bottle

Cloudy yellow body, white head, not much retention, some lacing. Sharp sour citrus aroma, a touch of lactose. Taste is initially a little sour and vinous but finishes rather dry, watery, and lacklustre. A touch of earthiness and a slight bitterness. However, the taste just doesn’t have the hit of flavour that the aroma promises. Still, pretty nice beer.
