3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Huge spruce in the nose, some roast, light coffee, pine, earthiness, spice and herbal tinges. Opaque dark brown color, head is light tan, uneven, fine and lasting. Flavor profile is roasty, lightly sweet, more spruce here as well, with generous piney, hoppy flavors and bitterness and some darkly bready malt in the background. Generously effervescent, bubbly palate, body is medium. Very interesting and enjoyable stuff.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours an attractive brown color with a small white head. Aroma is of tree sap, citrus, light pine and that rubbery/plastic Brett dryness. Taste is odd, citrus rind, funky/rubbery brett, sap, light roast, some mild sweetness. and a little bit of lingering funky drying brett on the finish. Definitely interesting.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle shared by pineypower. Poured a dark black body of medium density with a foamy smaller light beige head. Aroma is like a bretty black IPA at first then the pine notes kick in along with green veggies. Eventually the aroma reminded me of a drity martini with extra green olives. Average body with average carbonation and a normal to slightly lingering duration on the aftertaste. Flavor actually steps down from the aroma, a lot. First off the flavor just seems watery, notes of brett, juniper berries, burnt toast, gin, spruce needles. Meh this was odd.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
In short: A strange black fruity hoppy beer with wild yeasty and spruce notes. Weird but kind of fun.
How: Bottle shared by Kyle at post-Friday HF Harvest VIP 2012 party.
The look: Near black body topped by a persistent small beige head.
In long: Unusual aroma mixing wild/bretty notes, blackberries and floral/fruity American hops. Taste is very malty upfront, blackened malts, somewhat fruity (blackberries, blueberries), mild bretty notes, mild roasted sensation, floral and fruity hops, some spruce notes. Finish has medium bitterness that comes out of nowhere. I read here that this beer is made with spruce tips but strangely I thought the beer was more fruity than sprucy. A strange beer that goes a bit in all directions, not really harmonious but not bad either and certainly not boring. A fine beer from the Colorado brewery, not only is Colorado a state with lots of good beer but it is also a state that legalized recreational marijuana a few months ago, followed two weeks late by Taco Bell announcing the opening 300 new locations all over the state.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 ml acquired via trade from adnielsen. Shared with pantanap. Pours a big deeper blackish pour, good murkiness, with some glowing brownish edges that glow a bit. Big cakey tannish head cakes big layer. Aromas are rich, lush spruce and and firm piney and citrusy hops. Gentle toast, roast, and biscuits. Gentle hops, with a mellow bretty funk, cobwebs and dust. Nice flavors. Initial is nice medium bodied, a bit deadened with brett. Some funk, gentle cobwebs, spruce and mellow hops. Grapefruit, gentle toastiness. Middle shows some malt elements, toffee and toast, biscuits with firm dryness. Brett and spruce elements as a secondary into the backend. Dryness, florals, and earth. Gentle toast, a kiss of black malt, toastiness and marhsmellow. Some brett and funk firm elements linger on. Dry and bretty finish and lingering feel. Overall, a fun experience. I’d like some more hops but perhaps age has changed that. The brett really comes on through the end. Solid.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml Bottle. The pour was a thick dark black with a large (2-3 finger) beige head that had great retention, pretty much lasting throughout with excellent sticky lacing.
The aroma was up front with a nice dose of spruce and pine hops, that along with an earthy Brett yeast, dark grain malts and notes of chocolate, toffee and a nice touch of berries.
The taste was a little sweetly tart with a chocolate and toffee presence at first, and then progressed with a mild piney hop flavor, a bit of fruitiness and just a touch of spruce at the end. The flavor stuck around for an average duration after the swallow with a with a nice hoppy tartness left to settle in on the taste buds.
Mouthfeel was medium in body and mildly dry in texture with a medium carbonation.
Overall this was a very unique brew to say the least, but then again all of the beer brewed by this brewer usually is. This one balances hops, Brett yeast and a mild fruitiness superbly, making it a very enjoyable drinking experience...

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a deep umber black color with a big frothy offwhite head. Aromas are a bit of brett funk, pine, spruce, bitter chocolate malt and some earthy woodsy hop notes. On the palate its alot of the same with nice smooth mouthfeel of dark woodsy chocolate earthiness balanced off some bright spruce, sweet pine and more brett funk on the finish.
