3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml Bottle. The pour was a hazy dark burnt orange with an average (1-2 finger) off white fizzy head that dissipated quickly, down to a scattered layer of residue with a very small collar which produced not so good runny lacing.
The aroma had a bold tartness right up front with a grain malt and a musty Brett yeast along with notes of blueberry, cherries, yogurt and a bit of oak cask.
The taste was sweetly tart and rather fruity throughout, progressing with a bold sourness, a hint of oak cask and a somewhat light berry presence at the end. The flavor was gone way to fast after the swallow for such a tasty brew, basically fading very quickly from the taste buds leaving almost nothing behind.
Mouthfeel was just past light in body and dry in texture with a strong ticklish carbonation.
Overall this was a fantastic tasting brew with a very smooth and easy drinkability, what can I say this brewer did it again...

750ml bottle, shared with ablackshear. Thanks! Pours a cloudy dark amber color with a in white head. Aroma is Brett, a light touch of fruit. Medium on the palate with soft, fine carbonation. Flavor is sour, funky, Brett, light blueberry. Very tasty. Would have liked more blueberry, but the bottle is not exactly super fresh.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Appearance: Pours a cloudy dark orange with a thin white film.
Aroma: Blueberry yogurt, a touch of funk.
Taste: Skunky hop, mild pale malt, blueberry greatness, yogurt. The blueberry lends a little tartness, but nothing I would consider sour.
Mouthfeel: Thin, juicy. Moderate carbonation.
Overall: Very tasty, very balanced. I had no expectations going in to this either. I’ve heard over the top ooohs and ahhs for Crooked Stave and I’ve heard people dismiss their offerings. I’ve had three of their beers now and have been satisfied with each one I tried.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
I keep swearing I’m going to stop buying Crooked Stave beers because I never feel like they are worthy of the price tag and then I see a new one and it sounds so interesting I buy it and repeat the cycle of disappointment. I was hoping this one would be the one that broke that cycle and it was. I think this is the one that is actually worth the price tag, maybe they are finally hitting their stride. Purple, pink color, huge head that swiftly dissipated. Smell is funky, sort of manure like, hints of blueberries. Taste is nice and funky with a strong fruit component, blueberries. I almost wonder if they used a concentrate or just really good berries because the fruit really shows up well here. Nice job, crooked stave, I might buy a second one.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
The pour is a murky, amber, copper color with a moderate, white, frothy head which settles to a thin layer and leaves frothy lace rings. The nose is full of fruit with papaya, blueberry, tart cherry, maybe guava, earthy, funky, and some light toasty notes. The flavor is similar with dry funky notes, still blueberry, guava, toasty, and tart cherries. The palate is lively, drying, less than medium, and coating. The finish is dry, still fruity with cherry and guava, and a toasty oak note. Decent Brett beer with a nice fruit addition. These 100% Brett beers can tend to be quite simple and very dry and mask the base beer but still nice to drink.

(Bottle) Pours cloudy orange red with a creamy, off-white head. The aroma holds yoghurt, cream, blueberries, blackberries, dough, bread, cheese, vanilla ice cream, some funk, light esters and a touch of meaty phenols. The flavor is light sweet to dry, light to medium acidic and tiny bitter with notes of mild citrus, tart vanilla yoghurt, blueberries, frozen red berries, wheat crackers, doughy bread and friendly brett. The mouthfeel is creamy, light tart and round with a light to medium carbonation. Balanced aftertaste. Medium bodied.

Served in Crooked Stave stemware. Pours a nice light pinkish color with a nice head and a bit of lacing. The nose is really excellent with notes of blueberry and earth. Funk in the background. Really excellent. Flavor doesn’t disappoint either. Really enjoyed the combination of the Brett and blueberry character with just a bit of backing acidity. Light body; extremely drinkable.
