COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like all of the Wild Wild Brett Series, Violet is a 100% Brettanomyces beer. Violet was brewed with pomegranate and lavender and fermented on whole fruit passion fruit. After fermentation Violet was then dry-hopped with an experimental hop (Ex. 366) that we received from our growers.

Admin Note: Aging on "Extra Passionfruit" and dry hopping (an already dry hopped beer) does not necessitate a new entry.

Thanks Steve for sending this to me as a part of the Crooked Stave membership box. Enjoyed 25CLs at cellar temp.

A - Very golden orange, and a 3 finger creamy head..fades but remains pretty sticky.

S - Smells very floral and full of herbs and fruity nose but hard to place.

T - Really nice Brett funk all of the right texture and notes. Every floral and pomegranate notes really comes through really really awesome. Rose hips, pomegranate, blueberry, raspberry and blackberry all rolled into one beer with tart chalky enamel stripping tartness but not sour..just really nice and dry.Quite perfect and very close to HFS Flora. It has all of the right notes of dryness and with the added fruit, itís nearly perfect.

M - Dry, full-bodied and loaded with enough berry and floral notes that persistently continue for miles

O - A perfect brett beer. I donít think this could get any better.

Pour is a hazed golden amber with a bubbly off white head. Nose is light on brett, fairly balanced floral presence, juicy citrus and a nice aroma of leathery Brett and pineapple brett. Taste is much more sour than anticipated, hop presence isnít really there, Brett is much stronger with pineapple and citrus. Floral notes are a touch lighter mid palate. Finish is sour and tart of pomegranate, very dry with strong carbonation and light airy body. Leathery brett lies through the middle and lingers through the finish. Good stuff.

Big bottle (thanks, jpdurden24, for opening this!). Mild aroma of light tartness, strong grassy hay, a lemony hint, and soft wheat. Pours a hazy light peach color. Delightful citrusy tart taste of peach, apricot, golden wheat, a floral touch of lavender, and a mellow rice vinegar tone. Soft palate; abrupt finish. A graceful sour.

Pours fuzzy orange , small white head that fades instantly . Smell is very floral , sweet, even soapy ( in a good way ) Good carbo Taste is way less sour ? brett than expected . Very flowery , sweet - in a green way - very much passion fruit , light mouthfeel , yet enough taste .

Another great sour from CS. Pours a nice ruby brown color. Aroma is flowers and berries and some very light funk. Taste is high tartness without much vinegar. a little vinous and oaky with jammy fruits.

In short: A tart, fruity, floral and slightly funky orange beer. Original, tasty, refreshing. Lovely.
How: Bottle 750ml, shared at post-HF FoFA 2013.
The look: Cloudy pale orange body topped by a small white head.
In long: Nose is mostly very fruity with all kinds of exotic fruits along with a mild scented flowery component and only light funky and oaky notes. In mouth the beer offers a medium body, crisp texture, plenty of carbonation. Taste is again dominantly fruity. Exotic fruits, pomegranate, tart lemons, flowers, some bright and clean funk. An assertive tartness with bright flavors that makes the beer very refreshing. Very harmonious flavors. I really liked this one, my favorite of all the Crooked Stave Wild Wild Brett Iíve had so far. Iíd drink this beer on a regular basis, too bad it is as rare as a dance club hit song about the happiness of a 14th of marriage.

750ml bottle shared by jmborggren. Thanks! Unfiltered chunky golden yellow tan. Sour lemon lime tones. Boldly sour, intense US Sour action. Apricot, plum, pear, lemon, fruity tones. Not overboard, has a nice quaffable palate. Has some nice depth with the 7% alcohol, a nice edge.

!WARNING! The following is a morning after tick--passed out during tasting, awoke to find several murky inches remained in bottle. Score.

murky tangerine with oily top, white ring clings to glass edges. Breathing for 12hr reveals pear and apple softness in the nose, brett imparts dusty clay and grapefruit. Lightly lactic flavor, lemon and grapefruit mid before dusty, rindy finish, soft fruit sweetness emerging again. Pleasant and balanced but clunky, never becomes unique or special.
