COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like all of the Wild Wild Brett Series, Violet is a 100% Brettanomyces beer. Violet was brewed with pomegranate and lavender and fermented on whole fruit passion fruit. After fermentation Violet was then dry-hopped with an experimental hop (Ex. 366) that we received from our growers.

Admin Note: Aging on "Extra Passionfruit" and dry hopping (an already dry hopped beer) does not necessitate a new entry.

Bottle at home courtesy of Ratman via 2.5-years aging at Kevin’s house. Pours hazy orange with a medium, frothy off-white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is pomegranate, light cereal malt, lavender, passion fruit, funky farmhouse Brettanomyces notes, and light earthy hops. Flavor is tart and lactic pomegranate and passion fruit, lavender notes, light and crisp cereal malt, Brettanomyces, and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Bottle with thanks to Boost! Shared with friends. Pours hazy golden orange, small white head, some lacing. Aroma is quite floral, lots of oak, herbal, some Bretty funk and earthy basement aromas. Flavor is dry, floral, funky and just a light tartness, herbal. I guess lavender. Light body. Really really tasty.

Golden color. Very herbal, floral aroma, juniper. Dry and tart, kind of cherry note, passingfruit, wine like. I can’t pick out the particular infusions but it is clearly more floral leaning than batch 60. Love it.

(750ml bottle) cloudy medium gold, soapy white bubbles. Nose of lavender, passionfruit, dry aged hops, hay, wildflowers, super complex. Taste of lavender, brett, honey, passionfruit, medium tartness, guava, so deliciously balanced and complex. Excellent.

Bottle: Bright tangerine colored body with a thick haze throughout; creamy eggshell cap on tap that lasts for the length of my pour. Nice aroma of sour lemon, lactic acid, citrus, berry fruit skins, passion fruit, light tropical mango, & a strong back-end of grassy, floral, & moderate botanical notes. Flavor has an even stronger berry presence; almost tastes like raspberry & blueberry, I’m assuming that’s the pomegranate. Mid-palate shows more of the tropical side with understated passion fruit, mango, & maybe some vague citrus. Tart, slightly lactic & lemon-like acidity flowing from front to back with a nice, biscuit malty underbody & a solid flower petal presence lingering in the finish, a hint of herbaceous grassy notes. Yum.

750ml bottle huge thanks to adnielsen and Lukaduke! Pours reddish orange with big head. Nose is beautiful bright juicy pomegranate, grape, and floral bretty fruit funk, dusty wood. Taste is wonderful ripe juicy pomegranate and tropical berry funk, some floral grape and musty hay. Finish holds lingering juicy floral vinous fruit, basement funk, and semi sweet pomegranate. May be best of the set at this point.

Tasted on 2/8/14 from a 750mL bottle at the RBWG Grand Tasting, big thanks to Aaron Nielsen for sharing!!! Pours cloudy pale peach with an average white head that leaves average lace. The nose is floral violet, lavender, tropical fruit, and plenty of spicy brett funk. The flavor is more sour than expected, very floral, herbal, and tons of tropical fruit. The body is light and very tannic with lively carbonation and a long sour, herbal, and floral finish.

Sample @ RBWG Asheville After Party. Gold pour with a small head. Lemony, some harvest fruits. Underarm. Taste is acetic. Lemon meat. Some sherbet, mild herb garden. Light body, soft carbonation. Simple, pleasing.

Bottle... Murky amber pour with no head. The nose offers medium-roast malts, toasted oak and vanilla. I’m picking up no fruit here. Medium-bodied with a skim-milk mouthfeel and Key West carbonation. The flavor is bready, fruity – peach, moreso than passionfruit or pomegranate – and moderately tart. Short, crisp, tangy finish. Bottle provided by 50belair!
