COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like all of the Wild Wild Brett Series, Violet is a 100% Brettanomyces beer. Violet was brewed with pomegranate and lavender and fermented on whole fruit passion fruit. After fermentation Violet was then dry-hopped with an experimental hop (Ex. 366) that we received from our growers.

Admin Note: Aging on "Extra Passionfruit" and dry hopping (an already dry hopped beer) does not necessitate a new entry.

Served in a Crooked Stave tulip. Nose is bright fruity notes with pomegranate and, to a greater degree, passion fruit. Light lavender in the background. Light and tart. Really drinkable. Took some restraint not to treat this one like a session beer.

Tasted on 2/8/14 from a 750mL bottle at the RBWG Grand Tasting, big thanks to Aaron Nielsen for sharing!!! Pours cloudy pale peach with an average white head that leaves average lace. The nose is floral violet, lavender, tropical fruit, and plenty of spicy brett funk. The flavor is more sour than expected, very floral, herbal, and tons of tropical fruit. The body is light and very tannic with lively carbonation and a long sour, herbal, and floral finish.

(750ml bottle) cloudy medium gold, soapy white bubbles. Nose of lavender, passionfruit, dry aged hops, hay, wildflowers, super complex. Taste of lavender, brett, honey, passionfruit, medium tartness, guava, so deliciously balanced and complex. Excellent.

Bottle with thanks to Boost! Shared with friends. Pours hazy golden orange, small white head, some lacing. Aroma is quite floral, lots of oak, herbal, some Bretty funk and earthy basement aromas. Flavor is dry, floral, funky and just a light tartness, herbal. I guess lavender. Light body. Really really tasty.

750ml bottle, courtesy of Aaron. Thanks! Split with my bride. Pours a cloudy orange amber color with a white head. Aroma is fruity, papaya, mango, freshly bloomed flowers. Light to medium on the palate with light, soft carbonation. Flavor is lightly sour, citrusy, grapefruit, but not in the normal hoppy way, more flowers, with a light, tart finish. Excellent.

Tap on Beachwood: P: Deep murky orange with no light to penatrate and no head. S: A nice presence of tropical fruits, pomegrante, floral flowers, and berries that take over the smell. T: Damn and awsome sourness and tartness too it. Tons of berries and pomegrante that go both sour and semi-sweet. Stone fruits, maybe hint of raw honey and lime. M: Mediumb body with light carbonation, the beer finishes dry specially as it warms up. O: Very nice.

Pours a hazy golden with a weak head but still some lacing. Aroma is of flowers and red fruits, really nice and fragrant. Taste is juicy and acid (tart) and completely dry. Some nice grapefruit juice impressions. Pretty sure this is all lactic and citric, none of that acetic nonsense (never had an overly acetic Crooked Stave wild ale, more power to them!) Mouthfeel is lean, keeping it really drinkable. This was awesome with its perfumey and fruity interplay, I’d drink this again anytime!

Thanks to errl for sharing this bottle. Orange pour with a white head. The aroma has a ton of lavender, violet and other floral notes as well as some oranges. The flavor is also great. I get a ton of lavender character, as well as some light tartness and a hint of brett. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Easy to drink and delicious.

750 ml bottle to taster (shared by jmborggren). Looks good; a cloudy orange with white head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells and tastes floral and sour notes with a nice, tart mouthfeel. Good stuff!
