Found a 4 pack of bottles at Shoreline yesterday. Pours a deep ruby amber with a thin off white head. Aroma is skewed way off to the crystal malt side, and not much of any hop character. Sweetish, caramel flavors, almost sharp, with a toasted almond hint in the aroma and flavor. Relativley clean with a slight slick finish. I would have liked more hops in this, but it was still decent.

Bottle. This beer starts off like an irish red as it warms the alcohol and hop flavors come forward. Not a bad beer but the aliens can have it back.

UPDATED: MAY 29, 2007 Bottle serving. This malty brown and ruby red beer seems have a vibrant life of its own that becomes apparent as it warms up from a cooler. The abundant dryness of hops seems underlying in the mix and the beer has a chewy-element to it. I think this would be quite good with BBQ, grilled chicken, and Jamaican food.

Bottle. Clear dark reddish amber with a quickly fading head. Cereal to caramel malt aroma with some plummy esters and mild hop and earth notes. Off-sweet dark cereal malt flavors with fair hops underneath, leaving a pleasantly bitter finish. Pretty good I thought, though objectively speaking, this seems like another run of the mill micro amber ale.

Tap at Brickhouse, to clear things up Blue Point actually brews everything for the Brickhouse. Poured into a pint glass, color is very dark pale, complete clarity. Aroma is slightly burnt, slightly sweet. Very ESB-ish, british quality. Similar aspect in the taste, a bit watered down though. A perfectly light medium body for this kind of beer. Decent enough and very quafable. I wonder how this would taste on cask.

Not sure why this is listed as a Blue Point beer, as I believe (or was led to believe by what I read on the board at the brewery) this beer is brewed by Brick House. In any event, I enjoyed a pint of this one at the bar. Pours to a deep amber to red color, with a thick, creamy, white head, and a soft to moderate carbonation. The nose on this beer is estery, with lots of good fruity aromas of apple and plum, with some nice caramel malt sweetness, and hints of black pepper. The palate is soft and fat on the tongue, with good sweet and stewed malt flavors, paired some fruity esters. This beer finishes with more good sweet and caramel malt up front, then ends with some slight cirtus hop bitterness, and light alcohol heat that lingers. Tasty beer, with some good malty and estery character. A nice beer to relax with at the bar, and a nice beer to enjoy to take home in a growler. I liked this one.

Tap at the Brickhouse. Amber coloured beer with a thick off-white head. Served way too cold, as are most of the beers at Brickhouse. Aroma is very light and fruity, apples, white grapes, pear. Pale malt and a kiss of nuttiness, no toast and no crystal. Flavour is okay as well, loads of fruity esters and pale malt with a touch of alcoholic heat. Fairly thin-bodied and well-attenuated. The esters are pleasant enough but it’s not as good as it could be. Needs more malt character and the hops could be bumped up a bit too. Feels like a fairly boozy amber ale.

UPDATED: APR 21, 2005 this is a great brew. Dark brown, sweet and good start to finish. Drink it at the brewery on tap!!! When you leave you’ll think you in a ’crop circle’
