Hand pulled at the Old Contemptibles, Birmingham. Another of those red, nutty ales which proliferate at Christmas time. These red beers all sound delicious in principle, but get a little triesome after a while. This is OK, with it’s nuttyness verging on tart. A reasonably engaging gob full of ruddy bitter.

Cask @ the Haymarket Bar, Edinburgh. Pours opaque black with a decent head. The nose is a bit elusive but eventually some chocolate biscuit notes come through as the head retreats. The taste is nutty chocolate with a caramel biscuit finish. The palate is medium bodied and textured with a nice clean finish. Overall, a good beer!
