Bottled. Deep dark brown color. Roasted malt, apple syrup and nutmeg in the aroma. Amazing body for the modest ABV. Licorice, malt, nutmeg and papple syrup in the flavor. Surprisingly drinkable. Nice one!

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Aroma has roast, some dark fruits and coffee. Black coloured beer with a beige head. Taste is sweetish, quite thin and watery. It has coffee, roast and some fruitiness. Could be better with a little more body.

2.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Poured well and looked attractive, coal black and a light tan head. The aroma was sulphur and wet cardboard. The taste was thin, watery, with a bit of roast and caramel. Not particularly satisfying.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Black with a large beige foam. Aromas are earthy coffee with dry smoky notes and mollasses. Flavours are roast malts with honts of citrus. Spritzy on the palate. Quite light, yet decent.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
500 ml bottle, bought in Scarborough. ABV is 4.2%. Bottle conditioned. Black colour, huge tan head. Moderate aroma with some fruitiness and notes of mild coffee, hints of chocolate. Acidic / sour flavour, very strange for a stout, some coffee roastiness in the background. Did not do much for me this one. Disappointing.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
500 ml bottle. Black colour, but not entirely opaque as it lets some copper and ruby red hues through. Medium-sized beige head that clings to the glass. Sooty chocolate and cocoa aroma. Roasted malts. Surprisingly sourish flavours. Light-bodied. Acidic all the way through. Little malts that can stand up against the acidity. Watery.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Medium grayish brown head. Opaque black body goes dark red at the edges. Milky, sooty aroma. Thin, acidic sooty taste with traces of wild berries and cocoa. Watery mouthfeel. Dry cocoa aftertaste. Too acidic and watery. Probably be better if brewed with more alcohol. (0.5l bottle.)

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Stout is said to be one of the preferred homebrews of the fledgeling brewer as it is the most forgiving when it comes to faults. The assertive roasted malts and fuller flavours tend to cover for slight faults. As an ex-brewer I know the sour taste well and am unimpressed by it n a commercial stout. Great presentation in the glass and good aroma but the taste is let down by the thinness and sour palate.
