3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 BBB63 (5023) - La Porte, USA - JAN 27, 2012
Bottle and served in no-nik pint glass: Pours a deep brown with an initial huge frothy head that almost looks nitro poured, outstanding lace on the glass. The aroma has notes of roasted coffee, toasted bread, biscuity grains, some herbal and grassy hop vapours, with a hint of chocolate and leather earthy esters. There also is some lactic acid which is worrisome. The taste is not overly complex but does show some nice roast and toast character along with a nice EKG and Challenger hop finish. A tad ashy and hints of cold coffee. The mouth feel is very smooth and very easy to drink. A solid enough session stout, one step up from a dark mild.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 nealgersh (19) - South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - NOV 13, 2011
Bottle at home. This beer doesn’t seem very interesting after first couple of mouthfuls, but then it opens up a bit. Dark malts, dark chocolate, coffee are all there in the flavour but the beer’s dryness almost doesn’t want to relinquish them to you, although they all seem to there at the front of the mouth when you drink. Mouth feel is a little thin. It’s a bit too gassy. It has a refined, dry, bitter, short-medium finish which is probably its best quality.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Leighton (4097) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 26, 2011
UPDATED: SEP 28, 2011 Bottle at home in London. Pours a clear, cola brown with a small, off-white head. Sweet, mild chocolate aroma with light lactic notes. Light cocoa roast flavor, light burnt sugars, some ash. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Pretty bland finish, faint ashes and leaves, bit of roasted malts. Just drinkable.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ughsmash (5824) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 28, 2011
500mL bottle. Poured clear medium brown with a short, looser-bubbled beige head. The aroma picked up milk chocolate-covered biscuits accented by light earthy notes.. picked up some vanilla on the back.. sweet overall and well presented. The flavor found the same milk chocolates, but it lacked a bit of substance.. light roasted barley and coffee ground bitterness on the edges.. milky chocolate finish.. decent stuff. Lighter-bodied and dry on the palate.. not quite watery, but not substantial.. well-balanced.. drinkable.
