Our very first brew and still our most popular cask beer. A classic bitter providing a balanced hoppy flavour with a malty aftertaste.

Bottle. An average sort of bitter. Session style, with not too much that stands out. Crackery, grainy malt character, some hops, dry for the most part and as little bit fruity/citrusy. A bit nutty aswell. Drinkable.

Draught at the Swan in the Rushes, Loughborough. Light brown beer, smallish, short lived head. Aroma is hoppy. Malty taste at the start and sweetish, caramel at the finish. Medium hoppy bitterness. Pretty full bodied, good mouthfeel. Pretty good.

Cask Conditioned at The Rose & Crown, Charlbury. Pale brown with bubbly head. This is a sweetish malt beer, fruity and soft. There is an overlaid aromatic hop that is quite gentle.

Lightish brown beer with a hoppy nose. Malty start and a touch of sweetness at the finish. Not particularly bitter. Quite full bodied. Overall - pretty good, but not outstanding. Handpump, The Speaker, London SW1, August 2003

Dependably drinkable. Used to have a very strong almost licorice taste, this has been relaxed to an interesting mix of maltiness with some sharp fruit overtones and good hops. Tends to look disappointing but taste great.

nigos (631) - Ipswich, Suffolk, ENGLAND - MAY 1, 2003
Cloudy golden appearance. Lots of floaters and bits in the liquid. Flora hop aroma like cask ale. Hops all the way, floral and light. This would make a good summer beer. Refreshing but not massively complex.

RobBestwick (587) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - APR 6, 2003
sweet hoppy nose, cloudy copper hue, small white head, well laced, hoppy bitter finish with traces of nuts. This left an awful lot of sediment on the bottom of the glass.

Bottel conditioned, don’t poor the yeast. Amber coloured. Fuggle hop aroma. Malty and fruity. Big, maltiness, medium to low bitterness. Good maltiness. This is a well balanced, bitter.
