Cask - Unicorn Inn, Canterbury. A very dark brown colour with a creamy, small though slowly dissipating off-white head, leaving a nice smooth surface and glass lacing. Some roasted malts, chocolate and light fruit tones on the nose. A combination of tobacco and fruits form the flavour profile. A soft, delicate palate texture with a lasting roasted bitter finish. A tasty, moreish mild. Nothing mindblowing, but I could easily have had pint after pint of this.

tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - NOV 25, 2011
First tasted this in the Bull Inn, Paisley in June 1994. Cask, handpump dispense. Dull black in colour with dark ruby highlights and a thin buff head. Strong roast malt in the long aroma. Thin oily mouthfeel and good lacing. Dark malts give a rich roast malt with black toast, this fades to give a sweet caramel and molasses flavour. Dusty hop resins gives a dry bitter aftertaste and this continues into a dry smokey almond finish. An excellent mild.

Necked half with minutes to kick-off, The Golden Eagle, Lincoln. Mahogany with a cream top. Vague burnt wood aroma. Dribble of blackcurrant and cranberry under a wisp of smoke. Decent crumb of chocolate afters. Ordinary, but Beer of The Day So Far..
