COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Seasonal - January/February.
A new recipe for the new year - this is a very dark, complex beer, using a multitude of malts.

Cask, toast and chocolate aroma, lovely dark colour with an average white head. Light sweetness, in my opinion perfect for a mild. Short dry finish. Very enjoyable beer.

Cask handpull at the Old Fountain, Old Street. Tasty roasty toasty dark bitter, it’s ok, not in as good nick at the other 4 beers I had here. Bit of dryness on end. Some condition. A roasty fruity dark bitter, with dryness and fruit on finish.

(Cas at Rake, London) Near black colored, little yellow head. Strong roastiness in aroma with some stoutish creamy-chocolaty tone, good aroma. Thin to medium bodied. Flavor is also nice with this chocolate and roastiness, still somehow watery palate. Some hops and maybe even glue in aftertaste, good beer.

Cask in 3 Judges. Aroma is chocolaty malts hints of floral hop, but sweet and juicey. Taste is chocolate malts with not sign of hops sweetish but not overpoweringly so. A very nice mild.

Gravity, Far From The Madding Crowd, Oxford. Very dark brown, just a bit of walnut glow around the edges. Nicely contrasting off-white head. Soft caramel and chocolate aroma, a touch of fresh grass/soap. Lip-smacking coffee and caramel sweetness, gentle plum esters, a nice tanic finish. Ticks all the boxes of an ideal wintery sort of session beer. Well done.

Cask (gravity dispense) at Battersea Beer Festival 2006. Deep red/brown colour. Dark, roasty malt aroma, with a slight ashy feel. More full malt in the flavour with a touch of chocolate. maybe a bit sweet but there’s some decent acidic fruit to provide the balance. Not the fullest body, but it is a mild. And a rather good one.

Cask@Battersea Beer Festival. Nice mild! NIce slightly smoky, roasted malt character, light touches of both caramel and chocolate, slight nuttyness also present. Another nice one from Crouch Vale.

Cask Handpump at the Crescent, Salford 27/02/2004 Dark coloured and smooth on the palate. Slightly sweet with some dryness in a roast finish.

Sociable deep brown beer with a relaxing malty taste, almost horlicks! Good flavour with some coffee and a dryish but full finish. (Cask @ Liverpool Beer Festival)

A dark coloured ale with a slight coffee aroma. The use of crystal or chocolate malt give this ale a distinctive maltiness. Quite complex fruit tastes are present and lead to a dry bitter finish. Quite drinkable.
