Crouch Vale is a very dependable brewery that rarely turns out a mediocre brew and this is no exception. As with most cask ales, the aroma was not particularly pronounced, but had some fresh hop presence. The palate has loads of spicy hops and the finish is crisp and dry. No great complexity, but an excellent, refreshing, well-hopped bitter. Cask, Oakdale Arms, London.

Cask at the Hare and Billet, Blackheath. Good to see that the Landlord has a sense of humour as we enter a snowy British Spring. Amber pour with a white head. Vanilla, citrus and pear aroma. Citrus and yellow melon flavour. Fruity, bitter finish.

Cask @ Charlies, Cph. Pours clear golden with a small, staying, frothy, off-white head. Aroma is mild, grassy, doughy, light strawberry. Low carbonation, fat and very creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is elegant, grassy, still some strawberry, grapefruit. Light astringent in the finish. Nice.

Cask @ CBC Clerkenwell. The pour’s amber with a small head. THe nose is grass, undergrowth, some strawberry and caramel. The taste is slightly grain, a bit of piss. Some tangerine fruit. Nice fruity sweetness. Lightly dry finish. Light body, wonderfully soft carbonation. Great mouthfeel. Overall, a really nice beer. Simple, pleasing stuff. Well-integrated.
