Cask. Flowery aroma, reminding me of elderflower. Dark copper colour. Nicely hoppy flavour. OK bitterness. Quite flat, even for a cask ale.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Sobchak (131) - Skagen, DENMARK - JUL 12, 2005

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Ungstrup (23961) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - JUN 29, 2005
[Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen] A hazy orange beer with a light orange head. The aroma is lovely hoppy with hints of caramel and elderberryflowers. The flavor is sweet and flowery with the hops tickling the tongue and leading to a dry and very hoppy end. But the body is thin, which is a drawback in the total picture.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Hildigöltur (5107) - København, DENMARK - JUN 18, 2005
[Cask conditioned at Charlies] Deep golden coloured. Citrusy hops in the aroma. Very light and fresh hoppy flavour with notes of citrus fruits. Dry and rather bitter finish. Very pleasant.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 ToolHead (241) - København, DENMARK - JUN 17, 2005
Cask (Charlie’s Bar). Served in Crouch Vale pint. Slightly hazy dark gold. Creamy head. The aroma is freshly, citrusy hopped. The flavor is wonderfully, freshly hopped (citrus) w/ nice, dry finish. Slick mouthfeel. Fabulous drinkability. A terrific summer beer w/ enormous character - especially considering the modest abv. More, please!
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 chriso (7065) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 8, 2005
Unusually for a Crouch Vale beer, I struggled to find too much to say about this one. Not big on hops, or on malt, but the balance is right in an understated sort of way. Easy-drinking just about says it all. And I don’t mean that as a criticism - just that the overall effect is more than the sum of the parts. Cask (gravity dispense), Reading Beer Festival 2005.
