Bottle from mane liquor. Pours bright orange with vibrant fluffy white head. Smells great! Lots of tropical fruit up front. Taste is much the same. Tropical fruits, light sweetness and slight bitterness to finish. Extremely sessionable!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
500ml bottle. Pours a hazy medium gold, with a smallish off-white head, which lasts fairly well and leaves good lacing. Pine needles, resin, tropical fruit notes and caramel malt make up the aroma. Powerful pineapple, lime and resin hops appear up front, with resin persisting into the mid-palate. Here it is joined by caramel and honeyed bread malt. Assertive resin and grapefruit hops make up the finish, and it leaves a hoppy pine needle aftertaste. A nice, sharp Kiwi IPA.

’k This is more and also less than I expected. There is a lot more aroma than I expected, and there is a lot more distinct citrus things going on, and there is a nice carry and a reasonable finish. I expected less aggressive and this wasn’t that. I’m on the fence about this.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Perfect appearance. Bright orange with a thick white head. Sexy lacing. Dayem! Nose is tropical fruit goodness. A very sessionable take with sweet and bright fruits in your face. Very tropical. Good stuff probably just lacks a bit of bitterness

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Keg - Brew, Tauranga @ 7%. A clear copper-amber with a fine, fading off-white head once poured. Distinctly noticeable aromas of pink grapefruit and passion fruit with some demerara sugar sweetness. Very fresh with good body but the strength is completely unnoticeable. The slightly bready, biscuity, nutty malt character gives good sweetness and structure. Medium+ palate weight with refreshing effervescence and a protracted tropical fruit hop finish. A great example of a fair strength IPA that manages to integrate the alcohol with the character of the beer itself.

smell = excellent, taste was fresh hops, resiny, slight floral, nice citrus notes, a nice fresh bottle, colour slightly yellow and straw, no yeast flavours, slightly (only just) overcarbed, a nice beer!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
The colour is pale gold with a white head. Herbal citrus aromas about with grapefruit and lemon curd dominant. I cannot emphasise how much I enjoyed the aroma without typing ’emphasise, enjoy’ and ’aroma’. It is gorgeous. The flavour is of plentiful tangy citrus and elegant citrus. Long finishing beer with lemon and kumquat.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JAN 14, 2014 Lightly hazed gold body with a fine-bubbled white head. Strong passion fruit aroma, sweet lemon pastry / meringue, key lime... I know passion fruit is thrown around as a common hop descriptor but I rarely pick it up from hops, but this one is powerful! Soft and savory malt, filling mouth feel, creamy carbonation, very rich mouth presence. Passion fruit and spice with some minty almost-toothpaste hop flavor in the finish.
Definitely a fun and unique beer, softened just enough by yeast but even filtered I think the mouth feel would be pleasant.

As the poster below noted, this is a 7% IPA, not the low-alcohol Low Rider. This is a good beer, it ticks all the right boxes for a hoppy IPA, and all the usual ANZUS suspects are here: pine, grapefruit, citrus, honey-ish caramel, something from the onion family etc, etc. Mouthfeel is a letdown for me, it’s so thin that it leaves all the high notes just kinda danglin’ in thin air, legs all a-thrashin’. Near the end of the bottle, though, a slight hoppy oiliness makes its welcome presence felt and gives it a bit more body. A very nice beer with the potential to be great.
