Papsoe (10531), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 13, 2008 (Bottle 33 cl) Clear golden with a small, off-white head. Very fresh and flowery hop aroma. Medium body with a solid and lightly sweet malt base with a lovely floral hoppiness in the finish that also contains a solid bitterness. Another lovely NZ micro pilsener. 050208 Plimmer (243), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 5, 2008 Light golden and slightly hazy body with small head. Hops in the nose. Pretty complex taste with hops, flowers and citrus dominating. Bitter aftertaste with hops. NoiZe (948), Zeist, Netherlands Jan 16, 2008 I’ve had this one in New Zealand on my honeymoon.
Golden colored. Fruity, citrus, yeasty aroma and flavor. Nice one. highlandlad (1200), Sydney, Australia Oct 31, 2007 Another in the increasingly long list of fine NZ pilseners. I approached this Rotorua brewer with some caution after a dismal experience with Waipa, but any concerns were swiftly alleviated. Classic unfiltered pils gold. Poured with a fat head that lasted exceptionally well. Lovely authentic aroma of Munich malts and NZ Saaz. Very lemony, with passionfruit, lychee and a dab of honey. Very much in the NZ style of pils. Soft carbonation and lean body. Lovely wash of tropical fruit - more of the above-mentioned, plus mango. Good bitterness in a resinous swallow. Great summer drinking. (330ml bottle from New World Supermarket, Rotorua Batch P007, BB 12/07) yalnikim (666), Wellington, New Zealand Sep 3, 2007 Tasted 03/09/2007. 330ml bottle.
Rich golden, bright, with a thin white lacy heady. Caramel, stonefruit yeasty characters and fruity floral hops - peach, melon, flowering grass. A light touch of green apple and alcohol as I get into it. Big hop character - a touch harsh - delivers tropical fruit and nettle-like flavours and a steely strong bitterness. It’s all carried along by a solid malt character with just a little caramel. Good weight. Slightly undercarbonated to style but perfect for me. Some more stonefruit yeastiness on the palate - and the hop flavour really linger. With a cleaner ferment this would be another classic new world pilsner.
