DiscoForever (58), Dunedin, New Zealand Aug 16, 2007 The label is beautifully designed and I’m intrigued... It pours palest gold with a fizzy white head that vanishes in half a minute. Some slow and sparse bubbles too. Aroma is wheaty and yeasty with some lychees but no banana for me in this bottle. A little spice and a hint of sourness. Refreshing tart/sweet balance in the taste with a nice finish. Here I get bananas in the sweetness, a briefest tart edge before yeasty sweet finish. This beer has a quenching medium body with light carb feel that makes it a great summer beer. Although a little too sweet for me, this will become a popular and accessible hefe. Nice one Croucher! kempicus (159), Wellington, New Zealand Feb 1, 2008 Slight woodiness maybe papery on the nose but has an overall good banana nose. Good palate and to their credit a very traditional flavour. Also tried the pale but it was dead flat and off so I won’t rate it yalnikim (640), Wellington, New Zealand Jan 14, 2008 Tasted 15/01/2008. 330 bottle from Regional Wines and Spirits (batch 10). Cloudy gold, with an airy - and disappearing - white head. The nose kicks up banana first, then some mealy wheat, followed by bubblegum and clove. Though the carbonation and malt give it a fullish feel in the mouth and the malt character is quite sweet, it’s nicely crisp with a lingering phenolic finish. Banana makes a late appearance on the palate. Nice beer that is heading in the right direction - a little too sweet to drink pints of but probably a good drop for breakfast. A couple of extra points for the label - there is nothing better, for the craft beer lover, than to see a batch number on the front of the label... top marks Mr Croucher! bozoNZ (360), Christchurch, New Zealand Aug 31, 2007 330ml bottle batch H008. Poured a pale emon colour in the glass some head but not alot. Wheatish nose with hints of mellow banana and a touch of spice. Light carbonation if a little ’spritzyl feeling. Very muted flavours. Soft wheats, sweet bananas and spicey hints with a surprising gentle dryness in the yeasty finish. Well crafted if a little under done flavourwise sunevdj (1365), Copenhagen, Denmark Feb 19, 2008 On tap at Manukau Festival. Pours a hazy dark ellow with no head. Quite sweet with wheat sugary aromas. Slightly yeasty. Light flowery hints. Medium bodied. Soft to flat carbonation. Dry, flowery finish.
