kempicus (146), Wellington, New Zealand Feb 1, 2008 Slight woodiness maybe papery on the nose but has an overall good banana nose. Good palate and to their credit a very traditional flavour. Also tried the pale but it was dead flat and off so I won’t rate it
highlandlad (1170), Sydney, Australia Feb 25, 2008 The quality of this brewer’s pilsener raised expectations but this one disappointed. Might be better fresh. The sample here was well within its ’best by’ date but didn’t appreciate the journey to Australia. Cloudy gold with a fair head. Nasty aroma mix of rubber cloves (?!), sulphur and wheat. Tasted better than it smelled. Some mashed banana and chewy wheat before a spicy clove tang. Overall, seemed a bit thin and watery. (330ml bottle at Sully’s RB 07 Sydney Xmas gathering) sunevdj (1347), Copenhagen, Denmark Feb 19, 2008 On tap at Manukau Festival. Pours a hazy dark ellow with no head. Quite sweet with wheat sugary aromas. Slightly yeasty. Light flowery hints. Medium bodied. Soft to flat carbonation. Dry, flowery finish. Papsoe (9771), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 13, 2008 (Bottle 33 cl) Pours a hazy pale golden with a rough, dissipating, white head. Aroma of banana and lightly tart citrus. Medium in body and a little low in carbonation. Notes of banana, cloves and lots of phenols. Somewhat astringent in the finish. Not exactly a great Hefe. 050208 Plimmer (205), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 5, 2008 Light golden and hazy body with very small head. Ginger, coriander and banana in the nose. Sweet malty "wheat-beer" taste.
