3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours dark amber with a large, lasting head.
Nose shows fruity and grassy hops... and weed... First beer I’ve ever said that about. The fruit is mainly apples and pears, but what really shines through in the aroma is the malt; loads of sweet caramel, toffee and cookie dough-like characters. Quite enticing.
The malt continues to dominate as a flavour with very similar characters and perhaps even a hint of toasted malt. Unfortunately there’s more than a hint of hot alcohol mixing in with the resinous, sharp finish.
Carbonation could be upped a little to cut through the sweetness.

Bottle, 500ml. Amber with a thick beige head. Aroma of grapefruit, pine, nectarine, passionfruit. Taste has mild caramel sweetness and a little biscuit. A little nectarine. Hop aromatics are not all that fruit-salady (a plus for me) - mainly grapefruit with a little pine and grass. Bitterness is balancing but lingers nicely. It’s intriguing how the hops are very American but still so clearly Kiwi.

330ml bottle. Well carbonated as it started bursting forth from the bottle when I opened it. Needs to be poured slowly as it quickly builds up a big head of beige coloured foam. Dark hazy gold colour when the foam finally settles down. Strong pleasant caramal malt aroma from the type of malts used in the brewing process. Very inviting and the aroma makes you want dive right in and take a big swig. Intense sweet malty flavour that is moreish and although the alc/vol is only 5% it seems to carry a bit of a kick. Finishes nicely with some fruitiness on the palate. A well rounded pale ale and worth seeking out. My first beer from this brewery and I look forward to sampling the rest of the range.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Is this a Pale Ale? Clear filtered tannin colour, cloudy? no crystal clear. Fruit salad and a quite pungent sweet caramel aroma left in the glass. Dry resinous finish. Very meh, for a pale ale.

Interesting interpretation of an APA... but nonetheless, a fairly well executed style that has some good hop character going on. Well made, but for me, i’d like a bit heavy handedness with the hops! Now, seriously, donfardz... 9/20? I think you need your tastebuds checked.

Really strange - extremely estery Belgium yeast ester characters - no real hop flavours, hardly in style.

From 330ml bottle. Very rich nutty brown in colour, lovely head. Aroma a bit weak, slightly metallic, hints of nuts and fruits. Surprisingly sweet on the tounge, fading to a nice bitterness. Very full and round in the mouth, stimulating the palate with fruit and nut. Could’ve done with more hoppiness, but complexity comes from some nice sav blanc characteristics under the nuttiness of brown ale.
