Croucher PATRIOT is an American Black Ale. It is black in colour but without the dark flavours usually associated with black beers like Porters or Stouts. It is chock full of American Amarillo and Simcoe hops. Very hoppy on the nose, with a delicious fruity flavour, with guava and passionfruit present.

Pours a near-black mahogany with a thin light-tan head with decent retnetion and some lace. Earthy, chocolate & molasses aroma. Thin but flavourful body, earthy mushroom & light chocolate, guava, moderate hops - decent carbonation. Very pleasant, sessionable beer, however not all that hoppy.

Bottle from Plonk. Black, dark chocolate, hoppy orange/citrus aroma, dry roasty malts, resiney, dry bitterness. Nice.

Bottle, big thanks to Wingmanwillis and his brother, split on the train to Windsor 17/03/15. Black with a decent tan cover that retains well. Nose is light charr, pine, red berry fruit, raisens, spice, light cocoa, liquorice. Taste is a little thinner than the aroma with pine needle, bitter tropicana, earthy hop, roasted tones, red berry tang. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Respectable enough CDA.

Bottle. Clear dark red/brown with a light beige head that doesn’t last. Aroma of grapefruit, some tropical fruits - lychees, passionfruit - and a little pine. Light-bodied. Taste is fruity, with citrus and lychees. Clean, pronounced hoppy bitterness. No roasted or chocolate flavours really - maybe some slight toast or darker toffee. Pleasant hoppy beer that’s not too sweet and happens to look black for no particular reason.

Dark black in colour with small offwhite head. Short hoppy floaral aroma. Big hop malt coffee chocolate flavours,"What’s missing?" Mouthfeel smooth considering all those big flavours."O" for awesome!!!

Very dark brown red in colour with an open tan head. Hoppy aromas of citrus, pine passionfruit and roasted grains. Pleasant enough in taste but a little thin in body.

Pours a dark black colour with a creamy strong head. Tastes like a ipa and is very thick but very refreshing. Overall a very nice beer and a nice surprise. Good one to have after a long day.

Big rich aromas and pours a nice dark colour. Not much carbonation as it quite a soft beer on the palate. Has good length of flavours but is a little restrained. Finish is slightly bitter and the hops that were prevalent when this beer was first released have dissipated.

A very dark beer with an interesting burnt hoppy aroma. Has the American citrus hops flavour that might be expected of a black IPA, but quite easy to drink, even refreshing.

500 ml bottle. Pours black with light head. Aromas of spruce and dark, sour over-ripe fruit. Maybe a hint of chocolate. Definitely American hoppy flavors, grapefruit and pine, but lacking in malt to balance. Nice but not great.
