3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz can thanks to phaleslu (my first South Dakota tick). Pours a clear cola brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have pretty much what I would expect from a basic porter, roasted malt, some fruity character, ash, mild bitterness, the body is thin, some earthy hops late, new state tick though, winning.

12oz can, big thanks to phaleslu for sharing. Brown color, with pretty much no head. Toasty, chocolate, nutty. Medium-plus body. Kind of soft light carbonation. Moderate sweet taste, light to moderate bitter, touch of a bite. Not a great porter. Wow. Impressive in it’s underwhelmingness.

Pour on tap at Independence Ale House, dark black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of ash, roast, slight coffee into a bit of caramel, chocolate, slight vanilla. Taste was a mix of caramel, bread, dark fruit, dark chocolate, vanilla into a bit of coffee, roast, finishing slightly sweet.

Finally crossed off South Dakota! Chocolate. Tasted from a can. Nothing remarkable about this other than South Dakota is elusive.

Many thanks to weihenweizen for the bonus state! Pours a deep brownish black from the can with dissipating tan head that fades to lacy wisp. Aroma of dark roasted malt and chocolate, a hint of earth. Taste follows, a hint of smoke and ash. Medium body, light carbonation, decent porter.

Quite dark with a small and quickly dissipating head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malt, earthy, dry malty cocoa. Medium full body. Flavor is earthy, chocolate, lightly roasted malt, a bit of sweet fruit. Finish is medium bittersweet cocoa. Pretty solid porter.

12 oz can pour. Much thanks to Chris for helping me knock off South Dakota. Pretty good porter here. Soft chocolate and dark fruits aroma. Slightly dusty flavor with more dark fruit than anything. Some chocolate. Dry, roasted malt finish. Pretty good stuff.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a deep brown/black color with a low, tan head that quickly fades down. Aroma has a strong brown malt, modest amount of nuttiness with a chocolate malt and earthy hop finish. Flavor starts off with a sweet chocolate and brown malt flavor and transitions to a watery, light cigar ash flavor with a bitter malty finish. Body is light with almost no carbonation and just a touch of dryness. Overall an okay brew.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sampled at an ESBLS tasting. It poured a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of coffee, dark roasted malts and some chocolate. The taste was similar to the aroma with some maltiness and roasted hop bitterness.
