COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named for the ridiculous 4 foot dirt pile we had to put our brewery on to get us out of the FEMA-designated 100 year floodplain (no-one can remember this part of Spearfish ever flooding). This robust porter is black in color, is medium-bodied and has a rich, roasted malt flavor ending with a pleasing hop flavor and mild hop bitterness.

On tap at Brownstone. Probably not the best order to drink this beer in, but it tasted and felt like it was watered down.

Roasted coffee nose. Smells like my mash-tun with some raw malt...last time I brewed a year ago... A nice lil porter but maybe a little fine tuning needed?

Skyview V, 11/11/11. Not much going on here. Black. Lightly sweet malt, and some lactose. Dry, grain finish.

Can from patmycan. Thanks!
So concludes my US ticks for each state. Pours a deep, thick black with light carbonation and a thick olive-green head. Nose is light roasted nuts in a bed of coffee grounds. Flavor is coffee grounds with a light dusting of cocoa and roasted nuts. Average mouthfeel. Pretty good beer.

Bottle thanks to Keith (fata2683): Poured a dark chocolate with light white head. Aroma is dark sweet aged bakers chocolate. Taste is rich bakers chocolate with soft malts that actually keep this from being sweet, mild hops in the end.

Courtesy of northernbrews. South Dakota tick. Darker brown, no head, Aroma loaded with coffee and roast, not much else. Flavor much the same with some burnt astringent character. Watery thin mouthfeel.

On the 1st day of Christmas my beer gods gave to me CROW PEAK PORTER. Lucky me I’m sitting in Grand Rapids, SD driving cross country. This is a micro brew from the great SD. Roasted caramel malty scents and flavored. Gritty mouthfeel maybe like the dirt?? Overall good start to evening and 12 days of Xmas

[355ml can courtesy of cgarvieuk] Very deep brownish black pour, thin tan lacing from the can. Chocolate and slightly coffee nose. Coffee and ash on the palate. Bitter, but with some roast. Tastes like a good session porter. Could definitely drink a few of these, which would be dangerous at just a nadge under 7% [03122011]
